OdishaHosting – $6.95 Virtuozzo VPS

Tags: , , Date/Time: September 11, 2009 @ 12:38 am

OdishaHosting Via this WHT offer. OdishaHosting, a New Jersey based hosting business but having data centers in both Philadelphia PA and Hyderabad India, have some cheap and low end VPS plans, where the virtualization technology is provided by Parallels’ Virtuozzo (which is rare at this price point as it’s a costly commercial product). For $6.95/month, you get:

  • 128MB guaranteed/256MB burstable memory
  • 5GB storage
  • 50GB/month data transfer
  • CentOS

Servers are using high end Xeon 5420/5520 so they are probably squeezing a lot of VEs onto those beefy boxes. Their data center information on be found on this page with an IP address to do traceroute and download speed test.

Personally I am not a big fan of Virtuozzo. In fact I much prefer OpenVZ unless SLM is used on the Virtuozzo (which apparently is not the case here).

Edit: offer is for US DC rather than India DC.

    Well,

see the last comment on the WHT offer – These VPS plans are for USA and not India, so please fix the title.

Some notes on commenting on LowEndBox:

  • Do not use LowEndBox for support issues. Go to your hosting provider and issue a ticket there. Coming here saying "my VPS is down, what do I do?!" will only have your comments removed.
  • Akismet is used for spam detection. Quoting webhostingtalk.com URL seems to get binned consistently here, but I do peek into the spam box frequently to publish those comments.
