Simon @ miniVPS, registered in Scotland in the middle of 2011 is the unmanaged VPS part of Xavvo Ltd mentioned that they have recycled some cancellations on the £10 ($16.15) /year plan and can now offer some limited stock.

The offer is also posted on WHT, so except it to clear out fast. This time it’s a little less bandwidth then previous offers but still plenty to come around.

As a bonus to this offer, Simon is also offering 25% discount on their UK plans in Manchester. The package shown here (which was out of stock when writing this) is the largest plan that fits within this sites posting rules but you will still get the discount on larger plans.

Today it was announced that FTNHosting had acquired a popular LEB company, VMPort. I decided to write up this post to mix up the content on LEB a bit and because Ashley (from VMPort) has been an active member of the community for quite some time so this announcement has been encountered with mixed feelings, some excited about the change and some, well, not so excited. Change is never fun but sometimes it is needed, in this case the benefits to the current VMPort clients appear to outweigh the negatives but there’s still a hole being left where VMPort once was. There is a very informative thread on LET about this here (along with a copy and paste of the announcement on VMPort’s site for confirmation).

Having not used VMPort before, I was still a bit saddened as I read Ashley’s post about the reasons behind the decision but, I am sure it is all for the best for the clients and for the VMPort staff. Best of luck to the VMPort clients going through the transition, to the FTNHosting staff for acquiring some big shoes to fill, and to Ashley for all future endeavors.

Nancy from 5ite.com sent us a congratulations email on the transition after the DDOS attacks and let us know at the same time that 5ite.com has listened to their customers demand for additional nodes and IPs so recently they added Seattle to their locations.

To get things started in Seattle, Nancy offers the LEB community a spring promotion at that location, if you sign up and want to use Chicago instead of Seattle as location send a ticket through their support and your VPS will be moved there. However, Nancy lets us know that they are trying to phase that location out, it was a location that was inherited from the previous owner of 5ite.com. Story and links about the sale can be found here from January.

Nancy is also letting us in on a little “secret”, 5ite.com is checking out another location in Ashburn, Virginia and don’t be surprised if we would get a similar offer ones that goes live ?!

Anyway, here is the spring promo package!

The previous/existing coupon offers (25%-30%off) on LEB all still work, however, those coupons do not apply to this exclusive offer.

However they have many happy customers and a few not so happy customers, but who hasn’t?

Chris, who e-mailed their latest offer had their yearly Professional OpenVZ price a little to high for the LEB price plan, nothing an email with Chris couldn’t sort out.

IRC is allowed. Please do take some time to read their TOS and if you do signup, subscribe to their Announcement RSS feed which is always updated with what’s going on.

InceptionHosting is incorporated in the UK as company number 07504587 (<del>which shows them as OVERDUE on return since 22/02/2012</del>) and it has been regularly featured here. Anthony is very active on LEB providing a solid service. Interesting traceroute to their Netherlands IPv4

Payment is accepted via 2Checkout (2Checkout supports Credit Card and PayPal), they have a KB article on how to pay via PayPal. The company is based in Philippines with their Servers in PhoenixNAP in Phoenix AZ (test IP: 174.138.175.114).

One interesting thing about this host is that every time its featured here, it attracts a lot of people especially from Philippines (understandable!!) and an unrelated thread with a BEWARE posted that does not even have a link to Jolly Works Hosting. A bit Googling suggests they may not be much of a team as their About page boasts since they forgot to renew their primary domain name. They were resellers of BurstNET up until Jan 2010 but not anymore. We would still want to stay optimistic about it and at least admire the fact that they have posted openly about their operations and issues.

Not many reviews out there even though they bribed the users to write reviews for them back in 2009 (and may still be doing that). Mark was studying when one of his offers was posted and the business lived almost 2 years to see the current day, so I guess Mark is taking his business seriously. Word of advice, use them but keep regular backups!
