LoliHosting - $24/Year 192MB OpenVZ VPS in Chicago

LoliHosting George from LoliHosting emailed me their special offers for LowEndBox readers. Here is the direct link to sign up, and for $24/year you can get the following VPS:

  • 192MB guaranteed/256MB burstable memory
  • 10GB storage
  • 500GB/month data transfer
  • 1x IPv4 + 1x IPv6
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

The above VPS would be deployed in Chicago with FDCServers (test IP: 67.159.45.49). If you are not comfortable with yearly plans (you probably should, with new providers), they also offer special discount for LowEndBox readers.

  • Use promo code leb-bw to get 25% off discount on their Chicago VPS (VZ192 — $2.96/month with 192MB/384MB memory, 15GB storage and 600GB/month data).
  • Use promo code LEB to get 25% off discount on their Phoenix VPS (VZ192 — $2.59/month with 192MB/384MB memory, 15GB storage and 300GB/month data, but currently sold out)

They also got a new design. Payment in either PayPal or Alipay (as George is based in China). Domain registered in September 2010, although it was only launched in June. WHMCS does not have SSL, although port 443 is opened with a self-signed certificate. There’s 5-day refund policy according to their ToS, but I can’t seem to be able to find any AUP, or a list of activities that are explicitly disallowed.

      • Well I raised it in my last post (meaning of Loli). People know that Loli shorts for Lolita, which is the title of that classic novel. However saying “didn’t harm or exploited any children” is really misguided.

Moreover, with any naming, it’s more than what you think it means, but what most other people think it means, what’s the commonly perceived meaning, etc. ExprtsExchange is a classic example.

That’s all off-topic. If George decided to stick to that name, just let it be. However I think it would be difficult for customers to endorse your brand “hey I am using LoliHosting!”

    • Actually the first thought came to my mind is “lollipop” when I’m searching for “*hosting.com”.

Lollipop contains the meaning of sweet, so when my team agreed to use this domain, we also hope all our customers can have a “sweet” experience with us.

Try asking Spo0lsh how much we worked on this problem. Our tech tried so hard to solve this problem. Even when he told me “no can do”, I still encouraged him working harder for our customers. At the same time, I offered Spo0lsh a transfer to our Phoenix node which was later accept by him. Then after hours of working, finally we worked out! For our customers!

So we don’t really mean lolicon on this, it’s just a sound-same of “lollipop”. And, with a sweet experience.
