Tags: , , Date/Time: June 5, 2008 @ 10:27 am
Update: Five Minute VPS has been sold to PC Core Web Hosting and all low end plans have been removed.

Via this WHT offer, Five Minute VPS is offering some incredibly cheap VPS plans — all deployable under 5 minutes. For $5/month you get:

  • 128MB guaranteed memory (256MB burstable)
  • 5GB storage
  • 20GB data transfer/month
  • 100-700Mhz CPU guaranteed
  • OpenVZ/HyperVM

All servers are in San Fransisco Bay area in the SVTIX datacenter. Might be New Zealand based with their +64 support number. They are actually subsidiary of Netxservers which also offers cheap VPS.

    Hello There!

Most of our staff are in fact based in New Zealand although we do have USA based staff/numbers.

    Thanks :)

@Cameron — thanks for the update. Great to see some Kiwis offering budget VPS hosting :)

@james — it wouldn’t be a VPS if no root access is provided.

I try to contact them from about 4 days with no luck. Support email is not reachable, helpdesk is not responding, can’t submit ticket and site netxservers.com is parked.. Hmm..

@Michal — not sure about the support issue, but their website is at netxservers.net (not .com), and it is still alive.

Well, I’m talking about .com domain because this is where the system notices come from and this domain is mentioned at the support page.

Anyway, I have to say that VPS is pretty good and setup really takes minutes.

    Hi There Michal,

We are having some problems with register.com where that domain is located. We will set the nameservers and it will go to where we want it for a day or so then it’ll change back. We are working with them to get this fixed.

Please email us at our .net domain for support.

    Thanks!

Some notes on commenting on LowEndBox:

  • Do not use LowEndBox for support issues. Go to your hosting provider and issue a ticket there. Coming here saying "my VPS is down, what do I do?!" will only have your comments removed.
  • Akismet is used for spam detection. Quoting webhostingtalk.com URL seems to get binned consistently here, but I do peek into the spam box frequently to publish those comments.
