FirstNetServ - £1.99 128MB OpenVZ VPS in UK

FirstNetServ Daniel from FirstNetServ contacted me about their latest offer on WHT, where they now have a new low end package. For £1.99/month the new “Mini VPS” has

  • 128MB guaranteed/256MB burstable memory
  • 10GB storage
  • 50GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/VirtPanel

Servers are with RapidSwitch in UK. Our last post about them back in 31 May they were still using SolusVM, and it seems they have migrated to VirtPanel.

Daniel also said that if you mention LEB in the order form, they will give you 50GB/month data extra. By the way — your SSL certificate has expired today! Time for renewal :)

    ‘This frame was blocked because it contains some insecure content.’

  4. Hi

    Thank you for bringing the SSL problem to my attention guys, Appreciated :)

    @Daniel

    I doubt your name is daniel (Perhaps it maybe Terry Robertson who was recently found to be posting PII)
    You link us to a post that is almost a year old. and makes no sense “firstnetserv.co.uk scam” I personally do not see a scam here,

    On the other side your terms state “Contract basis
    All services are provided on a month to month basis. The minimum contract period is one (1) month. The contract and billing period start from the date that any service was ordered. If you cancel hosting with us then you will not be able to host with us for the next 12 months also if you leave us within the first 3 months, you may be liable for an admin charge of £25.”

    that appears a scam to me.

    LEB is funny to me as a choice for a coupon, reminds me an ad for Baygon.

    At these prices I shouldn’t really quibble, but there are a couple of puzzling points:

    1) The terms of service on the Shopping Cart page say (under “Banned Content”):
    “You may not use our server to backup your files or as a file storage server.”

    Did you mean that, or is it just an accidental copy-and-paste?

    2) You only offer Debian 4.0 (not 5.0). Is there a reason for that, or could I upgrade to 5.0?

    3) I notice you add VAT on to the £1.99. I haven’t seen other providers do that – are you sure that’s right?

    July 30, 2010 @ 5:34 pm | Reply
  15. 1)

    This rule is for shared services (Webhosting/Resellers)

    2)

    No reason its just what was in the repo at the time,however i am happy to say we now have 5.0

    3)

    This should not be active, I will take a look.

    Was there any other questions i could answer?

    We are a UK business not US, hence not being US verified.

    @Daniel & @Zheng,

    Paypal is US centric – the “Non US” shows up for every one, not located in the USA.
    The verified bit is a separate issue and has nothing to do with location but everything to do with identity. It states if you have verified your identity (business or personal – depending on account type).

    Also non verified accounts have hard limits, which can cause the account to stop working – until it is verified.

  21. We accept paypal payment as a one off. Personaly i think paypal is very UNSAFE and takes sides with scammers. We take credit/Debit Cards directly or offer google checkout as a backup usualy.
