DialAHost - 3.90 GBP 256MB OpenVZ VPS

DialAHost Tom from DialAHost sent me their new VPS packages starting from 1.95 pound. For 3.90 pound/month (~USD $6/month) however, you can get the next level up package (BUDGET-2), which has

  • 256MB memory
  • 40GB storage
  • 400GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Although an UK based company, the VPS are in Scranton PA in the United States (yup, in BurstNet/HostNOC). “Xeon Dual Core 2.13GHz” are used as the host server, although it must have been quite a while since the last non-quad-core-or-more Xeon has been made. Domain has been registered around 7 months ago, with all the NS records on the same box/network (and some weird DNS setup).

  1. Hi there,

In regards to saying all the ns records are on the same network that is incorrect, our main site and shared servers are located on networks such as OVH, france.

  2. I know your NS are with OVH, but I meant all your name servers are on the same box (or even on the same network). So if that box dies, your domain is not resolvable. Which can mean that sending MTA won’t even spool the mail. Your customers won’t like that when they want to send a support email.

  3. I can assure you that if that server did die, that we would still be online, we run a complex setup.

We also have external mail servers just incase the main site went down, we are also building a fall back system. I understand what you are saying, there is some old entries left on the domain from when we used our usa dedicated for shared accounts.

I guess ile have to clean them up a little later.

    @Paul,

check your DNS setup here: http://intodns.com/dialahost.co.uk and fix the errors/warnings

  5. Yup. “Lame” nameservers are the ones I was talking about. ns1/ns2.dialahost.co.uk is not even resolvable from ns3/ns4. It does not matter how sophisticated your email setup is, if your DNS is down, MX cannot be resolved and no one can contact you.

  7. Very glad you spot that for me, i think its time to setup a dns domain for the clients upon shared now, that will cause me big problems.

  10. Well sorry to hear about your issue, but please do not go trying to blame me for such activity you have no evidence to backup.

As for the backup of a hosts site you released yesterday, i would really say you should be the one to be careful of, you are 14 years of age, arrogant and very rude.

I also have a nice long chat log of your abuse towards me, and other things, our provider has been spoken too, and the information needed was given out, please do not comment to such degree when you have no factual proof to backup your claims, what you have done in the past 24 Hours is ludicrous, and the police will also be informed of the illegal activity committed against another host.

  16. 1 MX record is not a big worry I think, as SMTP is designed to be fault tolerant — as long as MX record can be resolved, i.e. your DNS is available. Not when your one and only DNS server is offline…

Andy, please backup your claims instead of being arrogant yourself and just bashing accusations about.

As for myself I have been very satisfied and happy with my DialAHost experience and they have provided me with a fantastic service, your “accusation” is very hard to believe.

      Keep the good work up!

  20. Maybe you can backup your claims, since your name is a no show in our database.

And no one with your name is on any VPS service, so I wouldn’t comment on a service you do not have.
If you have an issue, submit a ticket, we have had odd people trying to say odd things, but seriously, I have had no dealings with an ‘Andy or ‘Andrew, so unsure how you work this out.

We are very friendly, and not arrogant at all, if you have broke our terms, or been very untoward, we are not going to be amazingly nice to rule breakers.

Hello, I don’t see how people are having problems.
I have been a client with Dialahost for about almost a year an have never had a problem with there service other than downtime but that was only once an not there fault, ANY problems I might have I bring them to pauls attention and they are resolved, I honestly love dialahost and would recommend them to ANYONE whom needs hosting.

DialAHost is a very good host i have hosted with them over 12 months there support team is very fast.

As for Andy’s comment it must be the user behind the vps as i have a low spec and a hi spec vps and they work perfectly fine for me

    Cheers

    • Hey, Thanks for your review on DialAHost, as I was clicking on the link mention above, to take me to their website, but it’s redirecting me to some other website “Crownhosting”. Is DialAHost is shut down, or they are currently doing it under the name of “Crownhositng”?
      Regards…
