I like the company as a whole, though I do regret moving my LA VPS out to Buffalo. I’ve steadily seen performance decrease over the past month and my latest I/O is sub-30 MB/sec. (I’ve yet to open a ticket on it for resolution; just stating what happened to me.)

Still, they run a reliable network and I’m happy overall, so I can definitely recommend them. Just don’t expect SSD/Cached-SSD node speeds.

    May 21, 2013 @ 2:46 am | Reply
    • Ah, sorry about that, there was a torrenter on Node13 bogging down the write speeds of the disks…

      Should be getting better :)

      @Node13 ~]# dd if=/dev/zero of=iotest bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
      16384+0 records in
      16384+0 records out
      1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 3.72479 s, 288 MB/s

Thanks for the great comments! All of us here at WeLoveServers appreciates the feedback.

Well, I’ve never gotten those kinds of speeds in Buffalo, even when it was fast, but it is currently faster than it was when I first commented.

        (root) [~]: dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
        16384+0 records in

        • Hey RP,

Well in all fairness Disk I/O speeds, as with every host is at times going to be intermittent depending on usage, peak times, read/write access from other people on the node or your VPS, and so on and so forth. It’s the nature of Virtualized Servers, but the Disk I/O we provide even at peak times is more than enough for real world usage.

Pretty sure its just due to the daily crons running around this hour. However, please create a support ticket if you would like to be moved back to LA.

          Have a great night.

On this page: http://www.weloveservers.net/dp-specials/, you are offering Rudolph-VPS-Plan@2GB/1.5TB-BW to digital point readers, priced at $15/Quarter – why do they have a better offer than what you have today on LEB ?(I’m referring to the 2GB Plan listed today – I’m not sure 20GB of disk space increase is significant in any way).

Are these repeatedly discounts? What happens after a quarter?

    May 21, 2013 @ 6:23 am | Reply
    • florin:

I think they are, 99% of the discounts here are recurring.

Just to be safe, better ask their support, but I doubt this is a ‘one quarter only’ discount.

      May 21, 2013 @ 8:04 am | Reply
    • It’s a recurring price, -not- a one time.

Why do Digital Point Readers have an offer better than the 2GB one you have offered us here? They’re getting it at $5 a month. Why $7 a month for us?

        May 21, 2013 @ 4:59 pm | Reply
        • Hey AJ,

These are two entirely different plans, and if you try to order the 2GB DP Special you’ll see it is completely out of stock, and has been for quite a while as that was an old special.

Our current LEB offers are also available in our newest hosting location: Frankfurt, Germany.

One question, is it possible to change the linux distro after purchasing, or will I need to buy another one?
I’m using CentOS with Kloxo at the moment, e.g. is it possible to change the package to CentOS without Kloxo if I will find it too complicated? haven’t used Kloxo before

I would love to investigate this further, can you please email me at c.boswell@weloveservers.net with your ticket ID? I am extremely interested to hear from you because we haven’t received any complaints related to anything being slow, and our monitoring system doesn’t show any problems with any of our servers.

    • Greetings,

I’m not sure what node your VPS is hosted on, but one of our nodes ‘Node14’ recently required a HDD replacement. One of the drives in the RAID10 config came from a bad shipping batch and needed to be replaced. The drive was replaced with a new Seagate Constellation hard drive and the RAID rebuild completed today.

Given that your VPS is on Node14 because it’s the only node we recently performed maintenance on, I am glad to say it is now resolved. The Disk IO was temporarily not up to par while the RAID array was rebuilding due to the drive replacement. It’s now back to normal:

      @Node14 ~]# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
      16384+0 records in
      16384+0 records out
      1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 5.91316 s, 182 MB/s
      [root@Node14 ~]#

    July 7, 2013 @ 7:04 am | Reply
    • It’s hard for us to grow in our Frankfurt, Germany location due to IPv4 restrictions there & RIPE no longer giving out new IP allocations, these road blocks are getting in our way.

We are exercising alternative options and hopefully will be re-introducing stock permanently in our Germany location in the near future.

After reviewing your post I decided to check out our status in Germany, and I was able to reclaim 8 available slots, so for the next 8 orders you should see the option to order your VPS in our Germany location. I’m sure it will be sold out in no time.
