LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
anyone have experience with RackVM?
Yeah, I got one of their earlier promotions. It’s been stable, however once I had issues with slow I/O, but Ben fixed it after I made ticket about the issue.
I would say go for it if you’re in the need of French virtual server.
Hi Mina, thank for your reviews! How long have you been with RackVM?
When i went at there site homepage, written “Live chat online”, but when i went to chatting page, showing this “Online Support is currently not available. Please leave a message.”
not bad, had problems logging in first time (password didn’t work), but the support is very fast and sorted it in no time
just to add: I have similar package with Virpus and their score is ~900
@Minh@Minh Meo’s Blog:
From 14/05/2010 according to first invoice.
@Em
with Unixbench 4.1-wht.2 you are getting 900 with Virpus? Mine is always around 200 I’ve seen it go as low as 90, But I’m on an AMD with Centos 5.5. What OS are you using?
@earl
AFAIK, unixbench 4.1-wht2 is obsolete
webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=924581
@earl I’m using CentOS 5.5 x64 Quad-based (funny, on their website they advertise only 12GB nodes, when my one has only 4GB), 900 was the best result I got, today for example it’s 749. thing is, I’m switching over to RackVM because it’s just cheaper
I need to give some praise to Ben from RackVM, he’s *very* helpful. Keep it up!
Wonder if using 64 bit OS makes that much a difference.. the highest I ever got was 230, I’d be happy with 749. But I’m on an old AMD Opteron 270.
Hi All
Ordering is now back open but all orders will be setup tomorrow ( Monday 12th ) If not sooner. We have had to order more nodes due to the amazing response thank you LEB :)
Does anyone know when this offer is valid until? Or is that subject to change?
I am happy with them as for now. Get VPS in an hour.
Good work!
