LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

IPAP.co - $6.95 512MB Xen/VMWare VPS in Scranton

Update December 2011 — IPAP.co’s website stopped working on 22 December, although the company has long gone already.

IPAP.co IPAP.co emailed me their virtual dedicated server offers a while ago. Decent packages on either Citrix XenServer or VMWare ESXi platform, and the price starts at $6.95/month for their “VDS Eco” plan.

  • 512MB memory
  • 50GB storage
  • 50GB FTP backup storage
  • 4TB/month data transfer on 100Mbps
  • Citrix XenServer or VMWare ESXi (with Premium Plus license)

Servers are with VolumeDrive in Scranton according to their datacenter page, which I think will go through BurstNet for connectivity. While their About page is still empty (and the rest of the site far from “organised”), from their previous offer page they are UAE/Turkey based. At lease vRozenSch00n has good reviews on their service. Their WHT account is still disabled. Although they claimed that “it has been described on our website” (I guess this not-very-informative blog post), “other people’s jealousy” has been blamed — I still don’t find that convincing. They have indeed fixed quite a bit of issues on their website. It is also now hiding behind CloudFlare. We’ll see.

It is very bad manners to comment on the spelling and grammar of others. Not everyone has learned English as a native language.

It is your behavior that is about the level of a 16 year old.

I fail to see what the problem is here. We can see that English is a second language for the admin but from what i have seen, i would like to ask, do any of you actually have any **actual** problems with this host? The admin seems to know what he is talking about and is willing to help so why are you concentrating on his grammer and spelling?

And some of us have been very specific as to the problem with your company. If customer service and your presentation actually was important to you, you would have followed up with what we were suggesting instead of blowing us off. Even LEA up there in his review pointed out there were issues.

ABOUT page need information. (who you and what is your vision and growth goal which will indicate that you are here for long run(at least). It should also informative and inviteable or interesting for viewer or future customer wants to be.)

TOS need touch up (a lot) :)

It looked like childish. You need to look at others or get yourself online legal service to write one for you (it is cheaper to use online legal service).

It will protect you from a lot of things and show you that you care.

Maybe if you had shown the folks here some respect, paid attention to what they were suggesting, and shown at the very least some professionalism, I and others wouldn’t have been so harsh. Gotta admit though your response here is too little too late.

My first suggestion was met with your request for me to do your work. Your responses went down hill from there.

I will make one suggestion though. Next time you make one of these offers, put a limit on the number available at that price or offer. Others do it. What you have is is stretching folks out and making yourself bad press as you can’t fulfill what folks want and it goes on for days and days. Makes things worse and worse for you.

They were selling x3450’s for $50/month. Are you surprised that they are being slow on the orders?

On the other hand, I have a volumedrive VPS right now and I can tell you it is almost as bad as Virpus. In just a couple of days I have seen iowait of 95%. Logging into ssh can take several seconds, and my vps locked up for over 30 minutes writing a 200 mb file before I rebooted it.

Just yesterday they shutdown the VPS without notice because they were doing emergency updates. When they were done with it, they didn’t even bother booting it back up.

I had a bad experience with Volumedrive before when they claim my server having too high of a bandwidth spike and limited me to 10mbps. And it was pretty terrible support which reply to me like once a week. Left after a month when they capped me the 4th time, leaving my pocket out of my setup fee :(

Anyway I was quite tempted when that $50 X3450 offer came out. But thinking about it now I doubt their network can really handle all those 100mbps unmetered new servers. May be it is alright now but when those new seedboxes start filling up and push bandwidth like crazy then people would all cancel their server and VD get all the free HDD upgrades and Ram upgrades that people paid for.

Network wise VD was good half a year ago. Though I don’t know if it is still good now.

      • Actually here in the States, your AUP would be thrown out if it was brought in front of a judge. It’s very sloppy, nothing and no one is defined, and is pretty full of holes. You don’t even define who your own company or who your clients are in the document, a requirement in most countries. For example, you reference someone called “US” but without defining who US is, it’s legally meaningless.

Have you even read anyone else’s TOS/AUP?

I think we’ve covered this before. Over a dozen years experience in hosting here. Maybe you should consider what folks are trying to tell you when they tell you you have problems.

And please get a darn spell checker. I at least have an excuse.

      Hi,

I am just being curious here. Why does it take so long to create a VDS apposed to creating a VPS? Surely all that needs to be done is a username and password created to the VMWare panel so we can install the OS ourselves?

Do the orders need to be manually keyed into the VMWare server? Is that why it takes long?

      March 30, 2011 @ 5:34 pm | Reply
      • When orders are high and most of people want us to install OS it takes time and actually having servers which can host VDS is more important!

        • BluePanda:

Does that mean you are waiting to buy more servers from VD – your current dedicated server provider?

Or do you already have the servers ready and its just a matter of time as you are currently installing the OS on different VDS’s?

Hi, I have tried to contact through mail since yesterday but I didn’t get a response, so I thought I would ask here…
I have a couple of questions:
    1. Is this is a real company? Do you recommend this company? Any real customers recommendations?
    2. Does IPAP accepts payments from Egypt?
    3. Does IPAP support OpenSuse 11.3 or 11.4 on vps?
    Thank you…

      Ahmed;
you should figure it out by browing.

1).Some people already has vps and VDS so yes they provide service for real.
Also, you can look up “fajar” already post download speed and disk speed of his vps (US).
2)IPAP Co. is based in Turkey. So, IPAP Co. you can ask. I think, if you can pay with paypal it might take it.
3). according to their site, they can install any linux if you open a ticket and request for it.(might pay for non-opensource os.)

    • Hello Ahmed ,
sorry if you got no answer as we are busy at the moment :)
      but answers :
yeah it is real why you think it is not?(we have registered company in almost 5 countries)
I am not here to say that IPAP.co is a big hosting provider now , NO it is not , but we have plans to expand it as we did not this rate of customers in few months!
i admit that our About page is not complete :)
however , we have offices in Turkey,Armenia(for hardware trading stuff),UAE, Iran(Warez Hosting , Colocation and DNS failover for middle eastern customers),Canada(will be ready soon) and of course Poland :)

About your Egyptian Payment , at this time regarding Egypt problems , we do not accept CC from Egypt but you are welcome to use Paypal,MoneyBookers or Liberty Reserve

      Thanks for the quick response…
Sorry, if you looked a little offensive but I have been searching for a couple of days and I have seen many sites that are certainly a fraud… a couple of reasons why I asked if it was real, I don’t mean to be picky, but while I remember the reasons please, allow me to give you the picture..

      1. Your website template is used by about 4 other hosting companies that offer similar stuff… they even use the same icons and very similar hot ads.. obviously it is a template… which is generally not a big issue but try to modify it so that the all three don’t look that similar….
Besides, the site text looks weired under chrome/linux… I haven’t tried anything else to be honest, but here the html is full of canvas tags… and it doesn’t look good.

      2. You have live support which is great, but I checked continuously for 2 days and there was no one online… I tried in all possible times… If you don’t have someone to handle support it is fine.. hide the feature for now.. and write in the site that you will respond in 24 hours for example… that sets expectations.

      3. Your contact us mail is on live.com and gmail… which is acceptable for live chat but IMHO you must write a mail @IPAP.co … it was really weird to me that a hosting company that has data center don’t use their mail… If I am sure that you are real… it doesn’t matter but when I don’t…

      4. there is no address and contact details… write down some real contact info… phone numbers and addresses, that helps a lot with the credibility…

Again, I didn’t mean to be offensive, in the end we are techies and what really matters is the actual work… but a few suggestions that help people see that you are real, and if you have branches in 5 countries.. you must write that… It helps a lot in people’s first impression about you.

      Actually, I wouldn’t have taken a second look if I hadn’t seen this forum…
You are doing good job on this forum… keep it up.
Wish you all the best…You seem to be offering something good, just need some “Makeup”…

Moneybookers should probably do it.. I will be back in a couple of days when ready…

      Thanks again.

      • Thank you for your great suggestion ,
1 – Yes it is , we are now working on a new theme …
2 – That is not live support , that is live sales chat , even without sales chat online we are under heavy rate of orders ,specially after that Chinese website post , so live sales would not be online till Monday or Tuesday

3 – We do not have DC in US,BTW we have info email if you fill that form , it will send an email to info or you can simply use info at ipap dot co
4 – we are not USA based , so putting address would be meaning less :)
Our offices are not for public visitation

        and …. :)
5 – A toll free number would be online in coming week

        April 2, 2011 @ 12:13 am | Reply
        • Ahmed:

I still think you should write down the address… even if no one will ever visit.. but it would have made me feel different about it… and the toll free number is v.good for marketing.
Good luck again… You do look like an active company since you are working till a late hour on weekend… Good luck :)

Hello, i am again going here to say that my dedicated server was not delivered. First when I hired they said it would take 3 to 5 days. It was not delivered.

Then I was told it would take 3 more days. It was not delivered.

Then i was told that in 1 or 2 days IT WOULD BE DELIVERED, the deadline was yesterday, yet it was not delivered.

yeah, 11 days, and still no server. I really dont care about “1 free ip” or “hd upgrades”, I just want the server I paid for. My services are offline, and I am loosing my clients. I really hope that now you gus PUT A VALID ETA, and not a lie or a guess.

    • Hi ,
as this issue :( i have to say that i am now downloading windows ISO from Microsoft website , the problem is that for no reason on some servers their download link , represents 404 error but i am now working on it sorry if my colleague made this mistake!

It is no problem at all, it gives me time to test the hardware properly as in windows you do not get such precise timings.

I really would like access to the VMWare panel so i can go ahead and do this myself as the plan was to try Windows for a little while then move to linux if it is stable enough :)

If you focus on getting my username and password to the panel then this would be much more helpful than installing the OS for me.

There is not panel for the Xen.I don’t know whether any panel for the VZ.
It means that you have to open a ticket to reboot or reinstall you OS.
And setup time is take up to more than 24 hours which they promise will be deleived in 24 hours.

I think they are using VMware according to website information. So, ask them to allow to use vcenter.

Am I the only person who would not do this? That’s like Softlayer asking me to email softlayerbilling@gmail.com – same context, you really need official domains. I nor many people will trust to send externally like this.

But asking people to email a hosting company at gmail in the modern era is just wrong and hard for anyone to trust.

      • I bought a vps with them today and already paid me they do not have the data, when sending email to them and do not respond, I am disappointed with this company.

These guys are great with customer service, but I sent a ticket to them (I use their VDS Prem version) concerning about the internet connection.
I’m only getting about 7.81Mbps Download / 5.24Mbps Upload speeds. They were installing a panel today (I use Win2003, my own license) and it’s been hours since I could log in to the VDS.
Taking quite a long time to fully set up too… but they are really good with service and dealing with issues.

Although my server says its in Germany… I chose Scranton, PA :(

So far, I don’t know what’s going on because I order my server on March 31st and I’m still waiting!

I receive some email saying that the server will be set on Friday 1st and since then, not even an email to say that there was additionnal delays! So, if you’re in a hurry, it’s maybe not the right time to order here ;-)

I will keep you posted if I receive it ;-)

They’re polite people, I appreciate it. But they’re slow… Maybe because they’re so busy with new hires, but is ok.

My experience: I’ve got some problems on my VPS, so they’re moving it to Germany, well, I should wait, but I’m satisfied with their service at the moment.

    Pretty slow on the delivery.
The support is also very fast, but very confusing. They often close tickets after their first response, which kinda doesn’t let you respond or ask further questions.

Why don’t you correct the area or use a ticketing system that allows issues to be reopened? Things are not always corrected after the first response.

hello, i did order a VDS and was deliver for less that 3 days. Only problem i did have when i order to change my OS ( Kloxo can’t work on 64 OS) i did have to confirm about 3 times and waited for 3 days, and the tickets they close the tickets after the firs replay, and most of the time you don’t get your answer. But overall all i’m really pleased, and i will continue to use there service.
P.S. Can some one tell me i have problem with Kloxo it uses all my HDD and almost all of my ram, how can i fix that ( i’m really new to VPS an kloxo)
BTW sorry for my bad ENG

If you are installed kloxo on cento 32 bits, You need to do a few of stuff to take care of it.
In order to reduce 60% to 75% of resource. You have to run with lighhtpd. download lighttpd and configure it.
or easiest way you can do is provide IPAP.CO the link of centos-hostinabox iso and let them install it for you.

That will install kloxo 6.0 version.
When everything install. switch serive to lighttpd and tinydns. Then, update kloxo to 6.14 version.
When update is done restart your kloxo. you will see 25 to 30% usage of ram on your vps.
You can tune mysql to reduce more.

Forgot to say that you also need to update centos(YUM update all) after kloxo update to 6.14 vesrion.

Okay so i brought this VDS about a week ago and have not been having any problems yet.. I have not moved my site onto it yet, i think a little more time just to make sure it is stable is in order.. Especially when such low prices are offered.

The support is GREAT but they tend to close the tickets after they reply and it is not like WHMCS where you can just reopen via a reply.. You need to create a new ticket if you wish to say anything about the last ticket… If that makes sense! haha

Currently running Centos 5.5 and just testing a lot of random stuff on it such as virtulization on the VDS and i am now testing to see how low end a VPS can really get :)

I opened such a ticket once, and after I asked why it took so long (1 day by that time, or something) it was closed.
Today I opened another one, and the reply was “So i am on it and thank you for the AREA that is helping us” which is fairly confusing. (Ticket number: #9578)

Maybe your support should stop closing EVERY ticket they reply to.

  51. I tried pretty hard to refrain from complaining here, but basically here is what they said to me on April 1:

    Hello,

can we please have a deal?
can we please setp your VDS on germany server now and transfer it to US in 24 hours ?
as we are setting up new servers in US and that takes time but we have powerful servers available now at Germany
however if you insist on US we will find some free space for you ....

Sent email ask them regarding moving my VPS on Apr 3rd and Apr 7th, both time no reply.

And as of today (Apr 12), my VPS is still sooooo slow because it is in Germany!

Other than that, everything else is good because I could not run a lot of stuff on it :)

i will get back to you

I hope they are “now” installing the VDS rather than “not” :)

On the more serious side, at least they bother to reply the ticket and work on the issue, which is a really good sign :)

    Update:
Got an email saying that the DC where my VDS is located is having major issues and am getting upgrades.
My IO disk is very low, its taking a long time to write.
I was having very bad connections, from as low as 100K to as high as 12.3M/s on the cachefly test, but since it fluctuates, it might as well be 100K.

Hopefully its fixed soon, the new upgrades is nice, but I didn’t even want my VDS in Germany anyway :( but as long as it works, I won’t complain!
Still good service, takes a few hours to reply back and I know they are rather busy. I just hope my connection is fixed, it’s hard to run a game server when your uploads drop to 50K, then bounce up to 10M.

Well… As it seems to me, the “IPAP CO. Admin” appears to give more attention to this blog than his own customers.

In resume: DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from these guys. They word worth NOTHING. Unless you don’t expect to receive any decent feedback or support.

I’m now waiting for FIFTEEN DAYS for a dedicated server that was paid and NEVER delivered (actually, I now doubt it exists).

They promised me on “Monday” (Apr 4). Never delivered. Evend wrote me a message saying what’s going on.
Then, they promised me to deliver it in “12 hours”. Same. Nothing and no explanations.
Finally they promised to deliver it in “the weekwnd” (sic). This was LAST weekend…

How someone would trust these guys?

Even if you bought something from them and they successfully delivered, I seriously recommend you rethink your decision. These guys would be off market in no time.

You are always welcome to have your service with us , we did respond to all yiur suooort requests and i doubt you read them
If you know we are not a datacenter in usa we reseller dedicated servers so dedicated delivery is not on our side and about xeon server you never qsked us before ordering how much it can take :)
Every time you asked we just qsked dc they said something
For vds when we say today it will be today but on dedicated servers we just ask dc they say today we say ok today they say weekend we tell you weekend that is dc’s words not us
Sir there are people that have not received any response from VD for a month :)
      But that worth it

In addition to above when we get late on some vds/vps we give free services even me myself gave free cPanel to one customer just becquse we said 24 hours and that took 30 hours

And another thing , although ipap.co is registered for 3 months byt our company is in business since 2004 in MIDDLE EAST

Please accept my apologies i will try my best to satisfy you specialy in any way i can :)

They have been great for me so far, i have not yet experienced any downtime that has been their fault. You cant really go around saying stuff about this offer when you brought a dedicated server..

They have been working very hard with me to solve any problem that may arise. I am currently trying to install Windows and am having issues but they are co-operating extremely well with me to have this fixed. The replies are pretty fast, they are to the point and tickets are prematurely closed but that is because of the nature of their billing/ticket system.

You also have to point out, the price.
I was a bit worried, with such a good price (the prices are similar to Volumedrive, and I have heard bad experiences with them) that they would never answer your tickets.
But to be honest, a $20 month VDS, with a one-time fee upgrade for RAM (2GB upgrade is $20 one-time fee) along with the service they provide is incredible. Sure, it’s not like a high-end dedicated system that have been around for years and answer tickets in less then 30 minutes but this beats a OpenVPS system at the same price anyday.

Their support is great, I can’t always understand them, but they are from the country of Turkey, the “Super-admin” of them resides there and he/she is a very nice person.
There will be wait times, but for the price of these systems, I’d wait a few days, it beats the prices of most others.

Let’s just hope they stay in business :)

Yeah the price is the only thing that worries me that is why I have not yet moved anything important onto it. I am planning to just mess around on the server and test certain aspects over a month then reinstall the OS and start for real.

Their support is extremely helpful but yes, I understand what you mean, their English is sometimes hard to understand but with the replies as fast as they are, it has never caused me a problem. I just reply and ask the question again and they do so :)

If you don’t want it or wait for it or if you don’t trust them, you can always ask for your money back.

That is the fact that there will be customers who like the provider service and some may not.

I understand but after the amount of hosts that I have tried it is really hard to trust VPS companies with such cheap prices. It could be oversold or something (not saying that you have) similar as other hosts do.

I will give it about a month before I move over all my clients. At the moment I am just benchmarking the VPS to my needs.

    node has 24GB RAM
    we fill upto 20-21GB
and it has 2 x 100Mbps connection (the Giga Nodes)
USA nodes have 32GB of RAM and 2 x 100Mbps Connection
Webnx Nodes which are 2 have 1Gbps uplink adn 128GB of ram but they are xenserver

vmware on linux no , linux on vmware , linux will cche the ram so when you create a vm with 512MB ram it will use 540MB of host memory!

Just signed up for the VPS Basic for use as a backup server.

I requested Debian (either 5 or 6) and a second IP for DNS.

Waiting now to see how long it takes to provision the server.

I will report to all concerning my experiences with this hosting service.

    • John_R:

VPS Basic was provisioned yesterday, seems to run at an acceptable speed.

I have not tested bandwidth, as I plan to use it as a “hot spare” for a few medium-sized websites and the bandwidth requirements are low anyway.

Virtualmin installed fast. I mean, faster than it installs on the 2.4 dual-core Intel box that my home fileserver runs on.

      • John_R:

        Two points of dissatisfaction:

        1. Getting a 2nd IP for secondary DNS. Put in a ticket, get told to send a request email to info@ipap.co – No response, put in another ticket. Still haven’t gotten the second IP.

        2. The administrators do not understand how a ticketing system is used. Ticketing systems typically work like this:

        a) Customer opens a trouble ticket, possibly concerning a 2nd IP
        b) Support person responds. The ticket remains open.
        c) Either the support response solved the problem and the CUSTOMER closes the ticket, or the support response did not solve the problem, and the ticket remains OPEN.
        d) The ticket is closed when the customer is satisfied that the issue has been resolved.

Instead of the above, IPAP seems to think that the ticketing system is another form of Instant Messenger program. You start a ticket, they respond with “we’ll get it yesterday” and then close the ticket. When the problem is not resolved, you have to open aonther ticket to ask why the first ticket did not get attended.

Broken English is understandable. In fact the IPAP Admin’s English is quite good.

Broken policies in regards to customer support… not so much.

I don’t really know what standards you mean, since I don’t know yet why people are running 2 servers :). I’m having difficulty imagining the conditions that require two name servers running side by side, and yet it seems to be kind of common (or I’ve at least seen it mentioned 3-4 other times). So I’m curious about it since it sounds interesting.

Is it some sort of split-horizon thing, based off of something other than source address? A privacy thing, for minimizing discovery of overlap between two different domains? Is there something interesting you can learn about a connection or optimize for based off of knowing which NS the client resolver chooses when given two similar choices?

    • Honestly, if you have access to the full 2 cores, is a little bit low.

Check this example http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/335802 one core of an i7 920.
      Or this http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/395167 1 core @ 2.4ghz.
Certainly the memory tests have a big wiight in the final score, but if you check the other tests, IMO is a little bit low in some of these.

Also you can browse all my tests here to compare:

      http://bit.ly/dErap5

Obviously if opteron is better than i7 then is a prove of your good faith and it should be taken in consideration, nevertheless you should inform. Im harsh but fair.

“Hey can u plesae do not tell suport requests in gmail chat?!”

Well what the hell am I meant to do? I’m not going to bother with tickets because if you’re on gMail chat I might as well talk to you there…

Now, my cPanel / WHM is performing rubbish because of the limitations they have put in place. Their TOS didn’t even state they could do such thing.

I have a business to manage and they’re stopping me from doing that simple task…

You get what you pay for. They even say the VPS / VDS is Fully managed, what a lie that is. They do some very basic management but when asking them to install a control panel such as ispCP they complained and told me to just get cPanel / WHM.

    • 1 – You MUST open ticket for support inquiries we did not tell ANY PERSON in whole world that we do supoprt with gmail chat which is impossible .
2 – What management you want? when you are not opening any ticket we can not do management on our own!
server is fully managed only with cPanel and that is written on our website :)
3 – your cPanel/WHM .. is slow because your load average is high and you know , we can not OPEN ALL CPU for 1 VDS Eco you have a 4Ghz limit which is your Plan :)
and there is no other limit on your Plan!
4- The other time you said on chat that we shut your server down which was not true and you did not even care to ping your server to see if it is shut down or not!
5- if you really care about your business instead of posting here please open ticket and tell us your problem!
we do not monitor your load average but we can do management ON YOUR REQUEST!
you MUST tell us what to do , we will never do anything on our own!

      • John:

I did ping the server and it said the host was not reachable hence why I thought you did shut it down.

You told me to add your other gmail account to chat, I can’t think of another reason why apart from support? Surely it’s still reaching you therefore you can sort out my request regardless.

You told me that you had to limit my CPU yesterday as in the email:
“however i had to limit CPU on your VDS to prevent you VDS from interrupting others!”

I can open a ticket but I barely get a reply unless I post here.

You seem to complain when I do ask you to do something for my server such as install ispCP when you just told me to get cPanel / WHM and still, you told me what to do rather than actually do it for me. This is okay as it also teaches me, but I sometimes barely have time for this.

But as a compliment, when you do deal with a request you do it in a good way :).

        Thanks.

Max download speed is 100kb/s lowest like you can see…So if you want to buy vps here think twice…I will not buy here secound month coz this is the worst VPS provider i have ever seen………If you can, get linux on you home pc you will have more power and more speed when you try to download something :)

Please fix it, I’cant create ticket since you upgrading your client management system.

I have a few reviews about the panel used in ipap, they have some panels, such as HyperVM, SolusVM and VePortal. Which each have a different OS templates.

HyperVM have quite a lot of templates, while solusVM only provide CentOS 32&64 bit and Ubuntu 32&64 bit template. And vePortal provide CentOS, Debian and old Ubuntu.

You should provide a more OS template for users to freely choose its preferred OS. I’m still waiting for the latest version of Ubuntu (at least 10.04 LTS or 10.10) on your vePortal.

    Sorry if my english bad.

If you want stable vps with good support don’t go with this provider…They need more then 24h to answer on mail and/or ticket, and i think one person do all job here…And about 7 days now to solve problem about network speed and slow disk…So if you want to lose your money, time, patience and nerves go with this provider…If you don’t want that go with other provider, trus me…

    1. I created a ticket so they could compensate for my 3 days of NO vps, they’ve told me to contact info@ipap.co…I do so and its been OVER 48 hours, with NO response. So there is customer service for you ;) I simply want you to transfer me over to a VDS as compensation but you’ve just completely IGNORED me.

    2. I cannot connect via VNC, It is so BAD that I just give up after waiting for 2 minutes. I’ve made a ticket about this aswell and they’re response was “Oh its okay our side”….NO, it is NOT okay your side or I wouldn’t be having this ISSUE!!

    3. They had promised to give users an extra 10 days, and today I got invoiced the WRONG amount even though I know I shouldn’t be paying for another 10 days.

Gah, I’ve never had so many issues with just one VPS/VDS provider.

In this link http://029.img98.net/out.php/i271711_hetzzner.jpg i see how you have 1gb/s link ? So how all ppl have about 0-10kb/s download? After upgrade on 2gb/s we will have 10-20 maybe??? This is overselling or what…
    Can you explain this ?

    April 24, 2011 @ 10:56 pm | Reply
    • There is no oversell , about 30 VPS basic would be placed on each node if each one of them gets 1/3 shared 100Mbps :)
so , because we were doing about 800Mbps hetzner suspected and put our link on 100Mbps as they suspected that as DDoS like Guillermo’s VPS :)
that is why it is slow BUT however we had ordered 2Gbps before ,they needed time to set that up due to holidays .
their ticket system is like hell , they have no place to track requests they just have a place to sumbit ticket and then you will need to send out emails!

I have paid the bill about five days ago. They never put the VDS eco ready for me so far, and I can’t login in their WHMC client area with my account, then I wrote to info.ipap.co to ask and get no response. So, I raised a refund from Paypal yesterday, never get any response.
I am wondering if it is a FRAUD?

    April 25, 2011 @ 8:16 am | Reply
  111. Quite frankly speaking, I am not sure why there are so many negative comments about them.
Yes, I know they took a week to set my VDS Eco up (because they seem to set up things manually for each VDS, including mounting the OS template), and yes, they have connection problems here and there, but for me (and may be I am the REALLY lucky one), it is a VDS that mostly works! I was able to set up Windows 2008 R2 + SQL 2008 and have them up and running without too much hassle.
And they are very responsive on the tickets, although they used to like the idea of closing up tickets after the first reply, I do notice they are doing a lot better now than just closing it. Isn’t that something great?
Honestly, with 7 bucks a month, what do you guys expect? A fully managed service? Super-fast connection? Or 5 minutes’ set up time? It is a Windows (or can be functioned as one) VPS that mostly works and that is all you should be expecting.
If you want better service, go to WHT and look for those Windows VPS that ask for 30 bucks a month minimum, among the low-end VPS/VDS providers who charge less than 10 bucks a month, IPAP is definitely a lot better, if not the best, among all. Just give HostRail a try and you would appreciate the fact that IPAP takes only a few hours to get back to you on your tickets.
Not trying to stir a debate here, and I do not even know who IPAP Admin is, however, I just think people are having unfair expectations on a 7 dollar per month budget VDS, at least for me, who only has a budget of 7 dollars to spend on my Windows box, this is already a pleasant surprise.

GeekInFinance i will answer on some of you questions…I have more then 1 vps…Some with buyvm…So they need 30min to 1h to answer on any ticket…Setup of vps is automated so you don’t need to wait 15 days to get what you pay for…And last answer is, there i have speed about 30-40mb/s and here i have 0-10kb/s And what to say about directspace, and 6$ vps there? Speed is same about 30-50mb/s no downtime, fast ticket respond, nad fast setup? So if you pay for something, you want that something, or you want to someone make you idiot? Need to say more about other provider and what services they give you for 5-7$ and what you get here? Ok lets say some more
myresellerhost give you same like other 2 providers…Volumedrive is little slow on respond and setup, but when you pay something you get that what you pay for…

So IPAP.CO compared to other VPS providers I have mentioned here is the worst possible..You pay something what you don’t get…
And now it’s 3 day and still they don’t move what they need to move on whmcs to cancel my account…

Not to mention the unprofessional response to tickets … I will just copy paste answer on my ticket:

Can you now transfer my server here???

    Hostname: cl1997.ipap.co
    IP Address: xx.xxx.xxx.xxx

    thx

    and answer after 2h:

    Why not?!
we will take care of this!

    IPAP Co . Customer Service

And still my account is not moved to WHMCS…What do you expect from the company then? I personally do not expect anything good.

And GeekInFinance: fot the end, i don’t expect super-fast connection, but i expect what i pay for, not speed about 0-10kb/s and not to someone lie to me…

That is all from me :)

I agree, you pay for a service, no matter what or no matter what price, you should receive exactly that.

You can not just say “yeah you paid $5 for it, what more do you want”. Yes i might have paid a lot less than normal but if a company promises to deliver at the same standard of other companies then thats what we should get.

I am having some major IOWait issues but my ticket just keeps getting closed. I asked for a refund for the period that starts from 30-04-2011 to 30-05-2011 because of this problem but they just close my ticket and say no. I even provided them with videos of me watching the IOWait time which they probably did not even watch. What sort of company does not issue a refund for a period that has not been used..?

In any case, i am very interested to see what they have to say to all the people who are having problems with them.

    • @DracH: I agree that sometimes I have to read through their answers a few times to understand what exactly they mean. And by no means I was implying their English is great.
What I like about them, is the fact they are responding fairly quickly and they are trying to resolve the issue (at least that is my impression), I’d rather have someone telling me:”Working on it!” than “Hello Sir, how are you doing today? The weather is beautiful and life is great and I am sorry to hear you are having an issue with our VPS and we hope to get it fixed soon.”
You know what I mean? :)

I am not one to say something like this or bash a company but companies like these really ruin it for the real budget companies who can indeed provide the service they promise.

You are right, however, they tend to reply here faster than their tickets which I would believe me as well as other customers find insulting. I guess all we can really do is wait.

Admittedly it is a bumpy ride however a good budget host could emerge from this. I’ve had the ticket and response frustrations as others have however the support is genuinely good and my machine is reasonably solid.

They’ve binned that crappy close all tickets upon answer support system in favour of WHMCS, which is very positive, and I believe they want their customers to be happy so instead of bitching we should tell them our combined expectations so they can better meet them.

        I’ll start with
        * don’t post here when you have outstanding tickets, I get pissed off seeing chat and banter here when I haven’t had a response to my ticket yet (VERY IMPORTANT)
        * create an issues page on your site with information and expected resolution time/date, a good example of this is the network issues in Germany
        * hook up WHMCS ticket email replies, I’ve replied to emails but I don’t see the reply in WHMCS
        * get everyone setup on WHMCS asap (otherwise those not on it will grumble)
        * don’t be rude to anyone here however rude they are and fanciful their claims, people will be rude to you – unfortunately you have to smile and bear it, if you do you’ll look much better (thus gain more respect)

Feel free to chip in :)

    • You’re aware that hetzner doesn’t sell unmetered services right? They’re ‘unmetered’ until you hit a certain point then it caps at 10 – 20mbit until you agree to “remove the problem” or to buy more BW at $10 per 1TB. The majority of the hosts in Germany operate like this, it’s in the fine print/bullet points.

*There are no charges for overage. We will permanently restrict the connection speed to 10 MBit/s if more than 5000 GB/month are used. 100 MBit/s speed can be optionally restored by committing to pay 6,90 € (incl. VAT) per additional TB used. More information

Your cap increases to 10TB/m if you go with the gbit line but still not 100% unmetered by any means.

    1Gb/s or 1Gbps = 1000 or => 125 MB/s
    30 Mbps or 30 Mb/s means 3.75 MB/s or 3840 KB/s

    @ Guillermo

I agree with you, not the only DracH are experiencing vps problems,

If IPAP.co admin offer 1 month free as a compensation, then he should give compensation to all customers that experiencing similar problems. It seems unfair if only to provide compensation to one person only.

VPS with speed 3.75 MB/s is quite fair, but if below that, thats not good. Even if only get ~100 KB/s, it is totally useless.

    • Then shouldn’t they have read the TOS/points before dumping into hetzner? Hetzner isn’t giving anyone extra BW so why claim they have 50TB per box? Are they forking the extra ~800/m for that much traffic?

We tried to setup with hetzner last year but they refused to budge on many of those policies so we said screw it.

I had ever ask refund to hostrail, due two of vps very slow response.
Also at that time I did not want both of vps that I order moved to another node.

Since I bought the server for my customer (I’m as “small” reseller),
and my customers do not want to wait for it.

Although quite difficult, eventually they will give me refund, as the credit.

After having used IPAP since the beginning of this offer, I can give the following review:

Virtualmin installed FAST. Updates install FAST. I have not run any benchmark programs, but the processor speed has not been an issue.

For bandwidth, I have been using it as a proxy server on my two home office desktop machines, and I do not notice any difference in speed page load. This is not just Firefox, but is set as system-wide proxy on my Ubuntu machines. I even downloaded the full Debian Lenny DVD set via proxy to test the download speed, average seemed to be about 200 kB/s. That is the speed I normally get on system updates from mirror.kernel.org

So far the server has been very much acceptable.

My only problem is the IP addresses. Requested a second IP for DNS via ticket, was told to email info@ipap with request reason for IP.

    Sent email, no response.

In my estimation, the server is solid, the resource portions are generous, but I can’t use it as a “hot spare” for my commercial sites without the second IP address.

If you want to run a game server or an eggdrop bot, I would recommend IPAP.

For an affordable business failover? I don’t know. The jury is still out on that one.

I hope that they will do the right things and become a great web hsoting service.

    :)

Well, what a disaster. On the 9th of April I signed up at IPAP for the basic VPS, I was directed to paypal and I paid 4.95 for the first month (a recurring payment was setup) – it went to a guy called Grzegorz Dzien.

Today is the 27th of April, and despite about 20 attempts to contact them, I have received absolutely no reply, confirmation, access details or welcome email. I have canceled the recurring payment on paypal, and said goodbye to my 4.95.

I don’t care about how much RAM they give or about an attractive price, if I’m unable to even get access to a box.

    Good luck IPAP…

I was looking through their website and came across several pages of punctuation marks which are not properly written (or not in-order, as what ‘drmike’ quoted just above). It looks as if the content-writer or webmaster didn’t take the time to re-check the content, commas, full stops etc; or he/she was rushing for time and had forgotten to re-check the content. If they are having a font issue, just maybe that the alphabets and the punctuation mark(s) looks odd when it’s together or side-by-side, then, why not just change the font type via CSS.

Spelling errors, excusable, however, looking at the amount of spaces between the punctuation marks and even spaces between the words and paragraphs (even the homepage title) are indeed, inexcusable. By doing so, it will only arise doubts/questions among people on the Internet about the Company, Management and/or Services, as many would categorize it as being non-professional, even if the the companies intentions are good. This does not apply to IPAP.co only, but to all hosting companies.

Honestly, I’m getting rather bored looking at several hosting companies who are making use of the same web template, even though it is a premium template, which cost $35 USD, which so happens to come with a integrated login module for WHMCS. Uh huh, I’m referring to the WordPress template “Phenomenon” by Bluz. Have you felt like.. ‘Déjà vu’? — I think it’s about time these hosting companies build their very own identity, in terms of web-designs, considering there are a few website designers out there who will do a neat job for a reasonable price.

Free templates are a good way to keep costs down.

I use them on almost all my commercial websites, especially those which rely on price-based advertising.

IPAP seems like a company with “issues”, but the template is not one of those issues.

Complaining about the use of free templates seems like an “ad hominem” attack, where instead of addressing the original problem with an entity, a person instead chooses to attack them in a different area.

Ad hominem attack is a tool of weak minds, and it is disappointing to see you using it.

Nitros Server was delivered after about 6 days from the transfer of the VDS.
Interesting, its a Nitros Mini Server, but I don’t mind, as it’s what I wanted.

Cachefly’s test was around 6.0M/s, which is ok, at least it’s stable unlike the other VDS.
Another interesting detail about my server is that it is no longer with VolumeDrive but instead with FDC. Rather nice, I wanted a Chicago location (Ohio located) and for a game server that loves resources and people nearby who play it, ping is usually under 50ms. Overall i’m pleased, shame to hear above this comment though, I guess I got a little lucky.

Write I/O is about 80.5M/s, MUCH better then the other VDS, which wouldn’t even give a reading (That’s how bad the I/O was.)

May be possible to upgrade to SSD as FDC offers it, I’m looking into it with them. The Game server is actually really good with writing on SSD’s so it would be a much positive add.
Not a bad server for $25/month. Ticket support is slow, but price = support.

I don’t like that I have no panel to see how much BW I have left or how much RAM is always allotted to the server (Guess I could always check by command-line, but panels look nice) but it’s only a minor setback.

Reinstalling Windows on it shortly. Everything is on a backup VPS (AlienLayer.. unmanaged and they are really good! $14.00/month for a nice VPS) so while they take a few days to do so I’ll mess with that.

Good Service here, still, and the server is holding. I hope it stays that way. I would recommend, but it definitely requires patience and a keen eye to read some of their returns. I feel damn bad for the above though, that is absolutely terrible, and best of luck.

Ordered a Xeon X3450 server on April 2nd, still haven’t received it yet. For the most part they were waiting on volumedrive to get more stock. April 24th I was shown an email from volumedrive’s CEO stating that they (volumedrive) were out of IP addresses, and that they would have more that week and get IPAP their servers. April 29th and May 3rd, I was told they were working on it. Hope it wont be too much longer.

here is another email from VD CEO for all ppl that in next 24 hours we would get 3 Xeons and next week we have pre ordered ALL XEON servers (about 20)
it is Good that , we will be able to give 2nd month free on those servers :)
but first we will not make the last mistake and will wait to get servers first :)
but your servers would be delivered friday FOR SURE :) as we have cleared everything with VD about this issue which is just making us shameful infront of our customers :(

    • How about some details? Specifics? Something to back up your claim? Right now all you have is “it’s great” with nothing to back it up.

You actually feel comfortable going with a provider who threatens people who point out problems with their company?

      June 3, 2011 @ 12:42 am | Reply
      • Robin:

If you want some specifics, I’ll provide them. But there have been benchmarks posted before.

I do not want to start something here, just let people on here know that some people are actually happy with the service.

Their guy on here seems to have a bit of a temper, true. I do not think it’s ok to threathen customers, but there has also been some fairly rude comments on here on a personal level, and who knows what offsite.

But I value actual thoughts on their offer, not opinions about what website template they should use, or how their english could be better; and I’m certain that there are other people on here who feel the same way.

        June 3, 2011 @ 5:41 pm | Reply
        • Just was saying that it would have been nice to list some specifics like speeds or whatnot. Many folks who provide such feedback offer up such proof showing how they feel that way.

As to the rude comments, if you feel interested, you may want to click on the ipap tag up above and see what has occurred in the past. Folks pointed out problems with his website and he got offended with the problems and then more so when he couldn’t get spoonfed.

          Thanks for following up.

  159. Well, i did a reasonable try to this guys and they just dont deliver. Price is not good if you cant rely on them. Things could go right as some times do or just go wrong, they just simply are not there whatsoever. I did have to ask constantly for what they were advertising; for instance ftp backup was delivered on june 4th but my first invoice its from april 15th. I dont want to waste our time with an extense list of issues with this people, just take notice: if something goes wrong you can only rely on your luck, and anyone knows that chance is not only blind, its deaf too (just like IPAP).

    Short review of their service:

Service availability: usually not available (VPS and VDS)

Service delivery: I had to wait about two weeks after making payment and after two notifications they finally deliver my service.

Client panel: some standard panel seen on many hostings

Uptime: On first month my VPS was blocked by provider for about 24 hour because of some abuses which was not my fault. So uptime was about 97% (offer: 99.9%).

    Support: It’s awful, few things:
    – long time waiting for answer (sometimes more than two days, usually about few hours)
    – support is treating client like cash mashine: give money and shut up. support claims that I’m guilty for my VPS unavailability without any serious reason
    – support language skills… Without any comment – see posts from ipap.co team. I couldn’t understand what they mean.
    – money back after downtime? Forget about it.

    Server:
    – Very good server, processor clock, network etc. all as in offer. Here I’m fully satisfied.

Summary: not on my nerves. There are some server providers who offers nearly the same prices, but support, service delivery, availability is much better than that.

How are they supposed to run with your money if you keep begging for them to come back?

Seriously, this is one of the problems of hunting for cheap offers. LEA and the other good people here on LEB are doing a great job informing us of the risks by pointing out the factors like price discrepancies and service flaws from providers. But if we fail to heed the warning signs then we should also be prepared to go to great lengths to get ourselves out of the hole we put ourselves in.

I think LEB actually evolved into a community of like minded misers, who help each other get the best deal out of the swarm of LEB providers making an offer here everyday.
