Servers might get deployed to their old datacentre, RapidSwitch in UK (test IP: 95.154.254.253), or their new datacentre (which I can’t seem to be able to find info about). As I have previously stated, they have been on LowEndBox for more than 3 years now, and XenVZ have been in business for more than 4 years. They have much expansion recently with new racks in a second datacentre in UK and became a full RIPE NCC member. They are using their own control panel integrated with their own billing system. It’s not pretty but very functional. I have actually been a customer of XenVZ for about a year and was very happy with their service.

While their servers have 100/1000Mbps ports, “LowEndXen 2012″ is port limited to 40Mbps to ensure fair distribution of bandwidth. I doubt you need more though, since you’ll easily chew up your 20GB monthly quota. For those looking for higher plans, I found their Christmas offers are still available with 512MB Xen VPS + 250GB/month for £3.75/month. Some other points that Sean wishes to mention:

• Since these are rock bottom price, no technical assistance beyond control panel provided by them, i.e. you are on your own once you are on the command prompt.
• Be considerate when you think about asking for refund, especially when providers are already having tiny margin on these plans.

PayPal is the only available payment method. Their servers are with BlueSquare in Maidenhead UK, according to their About Us page. On the same page they also stated that they use HP Proliant for servers and LeftHand for SAN storage. Michael disclosed that VMHosts provide “True Cloud XEN infrastructure” without any specific details. OnApp maybe?

Domain has been registered for 18 months, although “VMHosts” does not exist in CompanyHouse. Michael seems to be a seasoned IT solutionist though. Reasonable ToS — no IRC, no torrent, and no dodgy Perl scripts.

Unlike a few months ago when they were simply reselling BudgetVM’s VPS, they now run their own servers with Netriplex in Asheville NC (test IP: 74.112.172.54). Domain registered in June 2011 makes it less than a year old. They seem to have fixed WHMCS verification issue from last time, and main site is now sitting behind CloudFlare. Still, WHMCS is un-themed and it has a weird web site design — whole page is just a big lousy-compressed JPEG file with image map to handle the clicks.

Servers with PhoenixNAP in Phoenix AZ (test IP: 199.30.48.189). The CPU of the server is 2 generation behind (Xeon X3470) but they allow you to utilise all 4 cores. IPv6 is not yet available in this location. Otherwise InceptionHosting has just passed the 1-year-old mark (from its domain registration), and Anthony has proved to provide a solid service from previous offers.

Their servers are with HE.net in Fremont CA. According to their About Us page, the business started in July 2011, although they have only been selling VPS since a week ago. Even their shared hosting/reseller hosting uses the free Kloxo. There’s also no SSL on the HostBill pages, which makes me doubt whether “24×7 Support” and “Reliable Servers” written on their home page can be trusted. Finally, we are near the end of 2011 and $6.49/month for a 128MB Xen VPS with a tiny storage space is really nothing to write home about. Buyers beware, and there are better offers elsewhere.

Corresponding WHT offer here (different code, same discount). They have servers with ServerHouse in UK (test IP: 195.49.147.100). OnePoundWebHosting is a registered UK company since 2006 (company number: 05886975). IRC is explicitly forbidden in ToS. Sounds like a strong team — but it could still be a one man show, like how this review almost 5 years ago has described.

Servers in AIS Data Center in San Diego CA according to their data center page (test IP: 64.6.100.194). AmeriNOC is doing mostly managed services and they have been around for ~10 years. Those are unamanged Xen HVM plans which means you can install from your own ISO. However port 22 is by default firewalled, and you need to either (1) contact the support to whitelist your IP address, or (2) use VNC to access the console to manually change the SSH to a different port, because you can first login. Under their ToS/AUP the restriction listed in ”
1. Lawful Use” seems to be quite reasonable. No mention of proxy or IRC which I presume they are allowed.

They do have a way to source very cheap DirectAdmin licenses for their VPS customers, which we can only be sure that they are not paying $5/month.

They seem to be more active amongst the gaming/botting groups, as Aaron pointed me to this thread at Shadow Scripts show how many people are vouching for their service. The default OS image selected in WHMCS is also “RS Botting”, showing what their customers are mostly using the VPS for. Aaron also explained why they were selling on HackForums, i.e. probably just a reseller. They are a company based in Toronto in Canada, but having their WHOIS masked, running non-redundant NS, etc. Some interesting websites run on the same server as their main website — probably their shared hosting clients :P

Servers in Troy MI with testing IP 208.92.223.106. When they got listed last time, one complain was on lack of monthly data. Seriously, even at 110GB it is enough for most people hosting content sites, although I know I’ll be rebuked by someone here with their particular needs.
