Servers located in St. Louis MO (test IP: 216.87.32.157). It appears that they might not have a control panel to let you re-image your server. ToS/AUP here with no apparent restriction on IRC, VPN or proxy. They were in the business since 1995 (as “Primary Network”) and have live support with a phone number.

100GB/month data would be a severe restriction to some people here. Personally I am fine with that as most sites of mine have little images.

Since XenServer is used, I am not sure what sort of in-house panel does it use for restarting/re-imaging the VPS (if there’s any). It appears that only 64bit OS are available. They have got a comprehensive page on their data center here, and they are based in St. Louis MO. You could probably use their website (IP: 216.87.32.148) for ping test. You’ll also learn about Hostirian from their About page — part of River City Internet Group, founded in 2001 and hosting > 5000 servers. It started way back in 1995 as Primary Network (owner of IP block from WHOIS), and now providing services ranging from colocation to shared hosting to server managements, but you also have to visit River City Internet Group’s website to see their wide range of Internet-related services.

I have never used their services, but it DOES NOT look like a brand that will be in dead pool a year from now.

As I have stated in my 2009 best experience post, 2HOST was a surprising winner from their previous 5 bucks Xen offer. They have now advertised their new specials on WHT again — a similar package for 1 cent less at $4.99/month as it has been pointed out that it’s $59.88/Year when you go to the package page, which works out to be $4.99/month. My previous VPS with them was in St. Louis MO so I assume their new packages are in the same location as well. Their disk space is a bit lacking but I guess it’s due to the use of 15k RPM SAS drives.

Again from their about page, they have their own DC and their servers are in St. Louis MO. My immediate response is the same as the comments in the dicussion thread — “why come it’s so cheap?” According to their response it’s “because they can” and they would want to scale to 200 servers. According Wayback Machine the domain used to be owned by a CA company with servers in Chicago so I guess the ownership might have been changed, which has been confirmed by this WHT thread.

Well. It’s just $5/month…
