They seem to be more active amongst the gaming/botting groups, as Aaron pointed me to this thread at Shadow Scripts show how many people are vouching for their service. The default OS image selected in WHMCS is also “RS Botting”, showing what their customers are mostly using the VPS for. Aaron also explained why they were selling on HackForums, i.e. probably just a reseller. They are a company based in Toronto in Canada, but having their WHOIS masked, running non-redundant NS, etc. Some interesting websites run on the same server as their main website — probably their shared hosting clients :P

I believe those are Xen servers sorry OpenVZ servers, as Gregg showed me that they are not overselling those on 24GB-48GB Xeon X5560 boxes (44 nodes each). Servers with Sentris so that’s downtown Seattle WA. I just went to Sentris.com and tried to configure a similar spec’ed dedicated server box, and those are not cheap. In fact, a E5530 box with 24GB RAM, 4x 1TB RAID10 and 8TB/month on 100Mbps would be $665/month — so I am not sure how Gregg is going to turn a profit on it.

But he could get a very special price from Sentris. I have no idea.

Currently they are operating on the .org site as that’s where the SSL certificate was issued to. For a period of time they were on .info domain, which is still better than their previous .co domain. Still, let’s hope they’ll stick around for a while.

They seem to be catering for the gaming crowd who would purchase Xen VPS to run Runescape bots, as it’s under the OS selection dropdown. Since Xen hosting is not really visible on their website, their ToS does not really cover it either. Not much can be found on WHT although the offers were posted at DigitalPoint.

Matt from ClubUptime emailed in their April promotion coupon code. It is a bit complicated — it’s recurring yet only for a limited number of recurrence. Use promo code 50OffApril to get 50% off discount for 4 billing cycles, if you pay quarterly. That means $8.93/Quarter for their “Budget VPS – Level 1″, and fix at this price for the whole year. The servers are in Seattle WA at Wowrack‘s new facility, which are actually owned by the same company “Technica Holdings, LLC” according to the about page (which also hosts an impressive line up of management team). Domain created in December 2006 but they have only gone online since 2010. Their underlying virtualization technology is Xen (explained on their blog post), and their are using OpenNebula to manage the infrastructure + their customized control panel (which has a bug tracker). Would like to see how everything tie together. Certainly not your average OpenVZ/SolusVM company, and quite interesting at this price point.

According to “CG”, RockstarVPS is well-funded with huge adult hosting business + a glowing review. It’s still way too cheap for me.

According to Suhail, VPS are available in either UK (Maidenhead and Manchester) or in US (Scranton, Dallas, Denver & Seattle). That sounds like they have servers all over place. OSHS has indeed been buying many VPS companies over the past years (VPSWow.com, HighVPS, etc), however they are now consolidating everything under VPSDC.com now.
