Alex wrote to me 2 weeks ago claiming that I have been ignoring his emails (which I have to apologise that I often do to most providers featured here) where he tried to have his low end VPS hosting plans listed on LowEndBox.com. No URL included in the email, and googling his business name “Liquid Solutions” turns up nothing hosting related. Finally, googling his email address turns up his site, Liquid Host, from some odd posts at Hacker Forums. Turns out his previous emails also got swallowed by Gmail’s spam box. Alex had just emailed me again yesterday demanding a reply — so here it is — your VPS plans on LowEndBox!

Their unmanaged VPS plans start at $4/month for “Level 1″ plan, or just $3.40/month or $20/year according to this WHT offer with 15% off recurring discount code wht15off. You get

256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory

20GB storage

200GB/month data transfer on 100Mbps

OpenVZ/SolusVM

Oh wait, there’s also a “10% PayPal fee” that is payable which makes Level 1 $3.74/month instead (after discount) — even if you choose Liberty Reserve or AlertPay, which are the other 2 payment options. Servers in Seattle WA with Sentris. Domain was registered in July this year, however WHOIS info has been masked. You can still get his contact information from Liquid Solutions’ domain though. Both NS are on the same host. Website appears a bit incomplete — unless white empty space is hot again.

I’ll give a “pass” on this one. There are other offers in Seattle — for example the new FTN Hosting-backed URPad.

Aaron also explained why they were selling on HackForums, i.e. probably just a reseller.

Gregg from WhiteLabelHosting emailed me some of their new yearly plans. Pretty attractive pricing on pretty attractive plans — however these are only available in yearly payment so it would be a little bit of gamble whether the company will still be here this time next year. Their “.info” domain has technically turned one year old this week so hopefully they’ll stay until their 2yo birthday. The plans are:

256MB memory

25GB storage on RAID10

250GB/month data transfer

$20/year (Direct Signup Link)

512MB memory

50GB storage on RAID10

500GB/month data transfer

$35/year (Direct Signup Link)

I believe those are <del>Xen servers</del> sorry OpenVZ servers, as Gregg showed me that they are not overselling those on 24GB-48GB Xeon X5560 boxes (44 nodes each). Servers with Sentris so that’s downtown Seattle WA. I just went to Sentris.com and tried to configure a similar spec’ed dedicated server box, and those are not cheap. In fact, a E5530 box with 24GB RAM, 4x 1TB RAID10 and 8TB/month on 100Mbps would be $665/month — so I am not sure how Gregg is going to turn a profit on it.

But he could get a very special price from Sentris. I have no idea.

Currently they are operating on the .org site as that’s where the SSL certificate was issued to. For a period of time they were on .info domain, which is still better than their previous .co domain. Still, let’s hope they’ll stick around for a while.

PayPal is the only available payment method. Servers in Seattle WA. Since Xen hosting is not really visible on their website, their ToS does not really cover it either. It is a bit complicated — it’s recurring yet only for a limited number of recurrence. Use promo code 50OffApril to get 50% off discount for 4 billing cycles, if you pay quarterly. That means $8.93/Quarter for their “Budget VPS – Level 1″, and fix at this price for the whole year. Afterwards it will be back to $17.85/quarter, but I guess by then some more flashy plans will be available. Together with their current “Double Up” promotion, you will get

40GB storage (doubled)

400GB/month data transfer (doubled)

Domain created in December 2006 but they have only gone online since 2010. Their underlying virtualization technology is Xen (explained on their blog post), and their are using OpenNebula to manage the infrastructure + their customized control panel (which has a bug tracker). Would like to see how everything tie together. Certainly not your average OpenVZ/SolusVM company, and quite interesting at this price point.

Updated August 2011 — ClubUptime is officially in the dead pool. IP has not been resolving since 3 August. Please see discussion thread at LowEndTalk.

Matt from ClubUptime emailed me about their New Year special, which is only going to be valid for 1 day. Use promo code NewYears2011 to get 50% off recurring discount on VPS plans when you purchase with 6 months or 1 year billing period. Their Budget VPS Level 1 now costs $17.85/6 months (~$2.98/month) with the following spec:

512MB guaranteed/1024MB burstable memory

10GB storage

100GB/month data transfer

1x IPv4 + 5x IPv6 addresses

OpenVZ/SolusVM

You get to choose between Dallas TX or Seattle WA for your server location. I think the amount of included data might put people off, even though 100GB/month would be sufficient to run a few small blogs. According to this comment from previous post, extra data is also available at $0.25/GB or $100/TB. Update: Also via this WHT offer, where you can find the testing IP for both their Dallas and Seattle nodes.

… and Happy New Year everyone!

Updated August 2011 — ClubUptime is officially in the dead pool. IP has not been resolving since 3 August. Please see discussion thread at LowEndTalk.

ClubUptime had a great sale last time with 50% off recurring discount. Matt said they are going to offer something again over the last week of December, and I guess here it is. Matt has given LowEndBox readers some special packages — $5.95/month with double the disk space and monthly data transfer than the standard Level 1 package.

512MB guaranteed/1024MB burstable memory

20GB storage

200GB/month data transfer

OpenVZ/SolusVM

You can order this package for Seattle WA or Dallas TX. It’s not as cheap as last time, but you do get more disk space/data transfer.

But wait! Right on their home page (which is nicely designed by the way), they are giving out 25% off recurring discount on OpenVZ packages using coupon code 25offwinter. This coupon code does not work with “LowEndBox special packages”, but does reduce the standard Level 1 (with 10GB storage and 100GB/month data) to $4.46/month. Might not as cheap as last time — but still great value for a 512MB OpenVZ box.

Update May 2011: NoVPS is now showing just cPanel default page, and looks pretty dead now. Welcome to deadpool May 2011. Sounds like you are getting NoService from NoVPS.

Someone at NoVPS emailed me their special offer, which has also been posted on WHT. It’s a special Xen VPS offer for $29.88/Year ($2.49/month). Here is the ordering link, and you’ll get

128MB memory/128MB swap

10GB storage (RAID10)

200GB/month data transfer (1Gbps)

Xen/SolusVM

Servers in Seattle WA, and according to another WHT offer they posted, they are running pure Cogent bandwidth (can’t be good, can it?!) with “fastest route to Asia”. The fact that they are accepting AliPay means that they probably get a lot of users from China. Did a address lookup on the street address in WHOIS, and pointed to someone in University of Central Florida Chinese Culture Club. Maybe it’s Simon who wrote in the Testimony page :)

No IRC no torrent and no illegal stuff. 6 months old domain although the domain won’t expire until 2020. Why someone named it NoVPS is still beyond me…

Via this WHT offer. CurlHost has just released their Xen VPS nodes and is now offering “unbelievable offers” for their Xen PV VPS, starting from $4/month for 256MB memory, 20GB disk and 250GB/month data transfer. Add 2 bucks more at $6/month will get double of everything –

512MB memory/512MB swap

40GB storage

500GB/month data transfer

Xen/SolusVM

Available in both Scranton PA (with HostNoc but VolumeDrive’s ARIN) or Seattle WA (Spectrum Network). Direct sign up link here. Interestingly on their website their Xen packages were intended to be at Kansas City and Dallas. Since last time they have moved their website from Dallas to Scranton, but are still using non-redundant NS. WHOIS still remains privacy guarded. Great offer — but it certainly needs more time to prove whether it’s trustworthy.

Servers in Seattle. Many 32bit distros are available so 80MB/128MB should be good for quite a few things. 2GB should be more than enough for a small blog or even a small community forum. Although they did have some accident back in May it’s good to see them still going after 2 years.
