People probably have been waiting since the last BuyVM sale. Yes, the re-stock is finally here, and at 1PM GMT-7 on 15 October 2011 (yes today), they will be available on BuyVM‘s website (or use DoesBuyVMHaveStock.com). It’s a birthday sale — not exactly BuyVM’s birthday (which would be April 26 according to the domain registration date), but the Chief Pony’s. All the plans will be restocked, but Fran has noted some KVM plans that might be of interest. For example:

128MB memory

15GB storage

500GB/month data transfer

$25/Year

256MB memory

30GB storage

1000GB/month data transfer

$5/Month

128MB memory

250GB storage

100Mbps download/5Mbps upload unmetered

$7/Month

(Yes I know the last one was $7.50/month on BuyVM at the moment, but Fran did write $7/month in his email, with a note saying “very very limited stock of these”). Windows 2003 is also available on all KVM plans for no extra charge. San Jose servers — all owned gears with some pretty nice network connectivity. Since August they have also replaced SolusVM with their own control panel known as “Stallion” that’s specially designed for KVM.

So there you go. For Francisco — Happy Birthday! and for the rest of you — get your stopwatch ready because from experience it’s going to be a rush. 1PM GMT-7, or 1318708800 seconds since epoch (I think).

Brandon from eNetSouth has just put up some new servers at SoftLayer in San Jose CA, and asked me to “catch us off guard”. So here’s the deal from them. With this sign up link, $7/month gets you this:

2GB memory

50GB storage

1500GB/month data transfer on 1Gbps

1x IPv4 + 1x IPv6

OpenVZ/SolousVM

Those are powered by Xeon E3-1270 Sandy Bridge CPUs. Test IP: 50.23.74.242. Instant activation, subject to IPv4 availability from upstream.

eNetSouth has grown quite a bit since Brandon started working full time on it. Now they have Brain working as full-time support there and Miguel doing part-time between colleges, so hopefully the ticket turn-around time would be shortened.

Here is another company getting their gears up ready for the summer, and coming to LowEndBox asking us to help them off-load some stocks! Brandon from eNetSouth has released some LowEndBox-exclusive offers. Here are the deals:

San Jose VPS also comes with 2x IPv6. They are also giving away an iPod Nano and free 6 months VPS hosting at their summer away promotion. I must say that Brandon has done a great job this year in their previous offer. You can also vote them in our current top provider poll here. They have also been testing Xen HVM and KVM VPS — hopefully we will see them next month.

We know that some of you had a lot of problem with their previous $15/year offer. It has been almost 2 months now and they are keen for another try. Nope, not cheap annual plan anymore, but Pete from Vazapi emailed me a special promo for LowEndBox readers as “an apology to teething problem during annual promotion”. Promo code is LEB0611, and makes “uVZ-2″ $5/month at checkout. Direct sign up link here, and this is what you will get

512MB guaranteed/1024MB burstable memory

20GB storage

1TB/month data transfer

OpenVZ/SolusVM

Servers will be provisioned to San Jose by default (test IP: 199.48.146.2), but if you want Chicago (test IP: 64.79.100.38), you would need to open a ticket to have your VPS re-provisioned. IPv6 is “available” — you’ll be given a /64 on request, however from previous posts IPv6 might not actually work so YMMV.

Vazapi is affiliated with ServerMinds, Graxis, etc.

Looks like I am going to break my rules again by posting a yearly offer on a pretty new domain — although Vazapi is owned by Graxis/ServerMinds that has been around for a while. The price is at the very-low-end spot — $15/year. And here is the spec of their special “uVZ-0″ package:

See previous post on Vazapi on a bit of my commentary on them. It’s not a one man company and they do own their IP range and their hardware. However I am still wondering what happened to the clients under their other failed brands. Dominic said that they were re-launching Zabogo in a few weeks — last September! I know business strategies change everyday. But at the same time I guess every consumer deserve a bit of assurance.

Test IP: 184.105.195.10, which is with HE.net in San Jose. 10TB of data is nice, only if the pipe is wide enough with a fast & stable CPU. Whether you can use 10TB is one thing. I would, however, feel anxious thinking what my VPS neighbours would do to use all that data. From experience of 2Host’s servers in St. Louis and Asheville, the connectivity can be patchy sometimes. The VPS themselves are pretty stable though, as I was with 2Host for over 15 months. I did receive bad reports on their lack of support + server instability so YMMV.

Brandon from eNetSouth Cloud emailed me about their new exclusive offers for LowEndBox readers. This is a 5 day only sale — from Friday 19 Nov to Wednesday 24 Nov. Here is the sign up link, and the cost is either $18.75/3 months (~$6.25/month) or $34.50/6 months (~$5.75/month).

512MB memory

20GB storage

1500GB/month data transfer

VMWare

Note that this promotion applies to Linux only, i.e. can’t use it for Windoze servers. You can also choose between Chicago IL or San Jose CA. From their past offers they seem to be providing quite a solid VMWare-based solution, although support can be a bit slow sometimes. According to Brandon they did have “fraud signup nightmare” last month.

If you rather have monthly billing, their previous offer is still available — $6.95 for 400MB VMWare VPS.

For those of us who prefer more dedicated-server like VPS (rather than glorified jail, ala OpenVZ), this latest exclusive offer from eNetSouth Cloud might interest you. The last offer from eNS Cloud in San Jose was good — except their earlier offer for Chicago was even better! Co-lo in San Jose is more expensive after all, and they did have a much beefier server in Chicago. However Brandon decided to amended the offer, and now you can use this sign up link to get the same VMWare offer for both Chicago and San Jose! So for $6.95/month you get

400MB memory

20GB storage

10Mbps unmetered bandwidth

VMWare/vSphere

You can pretty much install any OS you want on your VMWare box (Windoze, Linux, xBSD, etc). See previous threads on discussions on this company.

256MB memory

20GB storage

2500GB/month data transfer

Use this link to order the above product. Co-lo in San Jose is quite a bit more expensive than Chicago thus it is more expensive than their previous exclusive offer in Chicago. Servers are with 8×8/CentralHost with Level3, Global Crossing and Cogent bandwidth and good connectivity to Asia. Test IP: 98.158.22.163.

Brandon also showed me a sample VPS he has got. It was a different spec CentOS 5 build with access to one single Xeon X3430 core and pretty decent IO performance. I suspect it would be similar with the one above.

The servers are in San Jose and they use HE.net which has good support for IPv6. I guess what’s coming up for them would be either Xen HVM or KVM hosting — both are probably providing the same thing that allows you to run native OS in a VM. Looks like it has pretty good network set up with HE, Savvis and Level3.

QuickWeb seems to have come a long way since last year and have been pulling quite a few good offers. 64MB is more than adequate to run a site like LowEndBox.com which gets around only ~70k page views/month (only average 1.62 pages/minute arghhhh). 1 year prepaid is a bit inconvenient though — not that they might not be around in 12 months time, but your demand might change then.

WHT user was created back in 2003. However there is not much info on the website about this provider. They have also recently announced the availability of their OpenVZ packages, which starts from $7/month with the following spec:

They use the data center in San Jose with IP provided by Ethr.net. The IP range is registered to “Lightwave Networking LLC” (which I guess I can dig out more info if I know how to do US business lookup). On their product page they are also intending to provide Xen PV, Xen HVM and KVM hosting. On their dedicated server testimony page though they do have nenolod of RapidXen as reference.

Would be an interesting provider to look out for.
