Here is my last post for the year, and this offer is sent to me by Joe from Joe’s Data Center. The same offer is also posted on WHT here. Their “Entry Level” plan is at $6/month, and you can order with this sign up link.

512MB guaranteed/1024MB burstable memory

30GB storage

700GB/month data transfer

OpenVZ/SolusVM

Their servers are located in Kansas City MO with, hmm, Joe’s Datacenter, which you can find the test IP and test files on their website. I suspect most Kansas City offers here are either with Wholesale Internet or Joe’s DC. You can google “Joe’s Datacenter” and read all the reviews, although I think the chance of these guys going to the dead pool would be a lot smaller than any other provider which I have listed over the last week simply due to its size.

Well, that’s it! I can hear the fireworks starting in the background so I better get ready welcoming the year twenty-twelve. Happy new year everyone!

512MB memory

25GB storage

500GB/month data transfer on 100Mbps port

OpenVZ/SolusVM

Direct sign up link here. On the form it says “Located in Missouri” which I presume would be in Kansas City MO, where many other Missouri-based offers are. Interestingly SSL was half-working in their last month’s offer, but is completely borked this time. Those are E3-1230/1240 nodes with 16GB RAM and RAID10 drives. Check their last two offers for their background + comments/reviews. Here is one provider whom you don’t really get to see on main stream web hosting forums (WHT), but advertise on HackForums. It might be the type you are interested in, but walk with caution (especially since it’s still a pretty new provider).

Here is the offer Haas from Cripperz Prodigy has sent me, which he has also posted in LowEndTalk earlier this month.
CheapVPS Bronze

Payment in either PayPal or AlertPay. Very minimalistic designed home page with only one hosting plan each.
Servers in Kansas City (for TinyVZ) and in London UK (for TinyKVM). Robert has been running RAM Host since early 2009 and it should be easy to find mostly-positive reviews here or on WHT. IPv4 addresses are $2.50/month a pop though, which makes that 256MB KVM with IPv4 $3.50/month, which is not bad either. Port speed is also pretty slow at 10Mbps with expensive $5/month upgrade to 100Mbps. HostD8 is a new business started in February this year, after acquired a few other companies.

Comments ranging from “okay” to “definitely avoid”. They might not be in dead pool in the near future, but performance might be mediocre. I can’t back that up myself though, as last time I’ve been their customer is over a year ago.

Servers with Data Shack/Wholesale Internet in Kansas City (test IP: 74.91.27.90). Anyone knows why Data Shack seems to be a popular choice in Kansas City MO? Another Australia-based provider, GetMyVPS, also uses them for their Xen HVM VPS. Yes, the “Adelaide” in AdelaideHOST refers to this Australian city where Josh is based in. Domain was created in April 2011. Prior to that, according to posts against his account on WHT, Josh used to run “ceaserhosting.com” back in 2009, which has since “ceased”. Let’s hope AdelaideHOST would stick around for a bit longer.

Update Oct 2011 — boxSRV has renamed to VMPort and stopped resolving since 12 September 2011.

Ashley from boxSRV, a division of AdvancedSpace, emailed me about their new low end VPS offerings. Cost on their website is shown in USD however when you actually click on [Order], the currency becomes GBP which is actually a bit dearer than the USD (as of today’s exchange). For £2.50/month you get

128MB guaranteed/256MB burstable memory

12GB storage

120GB/month data transfer

OpenVZ/SolusVM

You can use promo code 25offvps to get 25% off once-off discount. Servers in Kansas City MO, which I guess would be with Wholesale Internet. Domain was only registered by Ashley in UK 2 weeks ago. Even its “parent company”, AdvancedSpace, was merely registered in February. Their two NS, although appear to be on different class C, are actually on the same server so no redundancy fail.

The website design does look very similar to BuyVM‘s. Pricing is nowhere close though.

Servers with Joe’s Data Center in Kansas City MO (test IP: 204.27.58.122). Those are Sandy Bridge i7 boxes with RAID1 of SATA drives and 100Mbps port. Nix Communications have been around since 2008, been featured here since mid-2010, and Martin has been pretty quick in support from what I can see. Two issues were raised before — non-redundant NS and lack of SSL on web interface. I saw that Martin has managed to fix both — at least access to WHMCS is now protected (not too sure about SolusVM).
