Payment in PayPal only. Servers in France with OVH (test IP: 46.105.114.184). MiniVPS is part of Xavvo Ltd which is registered in Scotland in the middle of this year. They have been running this offer on WHT pretty much since October, and according to Simon it has been extended to 1st of January. Looking at their WHT offer threads they did offer pretty fast response time and got some nice feedbacks. Good sign that they’ll last more than 12 months?

PayPal-only for payments, and servers with OVH in France (test IP: 91.121.14.114). Domain registered in August 2011, but service seems to be enabled only in November. Interestingly the same plan was advertised as “unlimited bandwidth” elsewhere. No SSL on the ordering pages. Website is full of 404 links, with ordering links for Web Hosting and Reseller Hosting that go nowhere.

No wonder WHOIS info is masked. I’ll be too embarrassed if it wasn’t.

They take AlertPay, Google Checkout and PayPal. Servers in either GNAX in Dallas TX (test IP: 205.251.154.170) or OVH in France (test IP: 176.31.66.55). Its website is quite nicely done featuring cute looking Welsh Corgi, however quite a few links are either wrong or missing. Corgi Tech Limited are a registered company in the United Kingdom with Company No 7719404 (incorporated July 2011), and it’s address is clearly stated out in the website footer. However domain was somehow masked.

I think the company is too new to have a solid review. VMWare, however, makes it an interesting offer as one of previous VMWare provider, eNetSouth Cloud, just went to the dead pool for this month.

Updated December 2011 — Well, Ken has switched to a different domain (UptimeVPS.co) and it is now not resolvable. Looks like the deals are too good to be true here.

Ken from UptimeVPS pointed me to their October offer on WHT. For €3/month (~USD$4.02), you can get the following VPS:

1024MB memory/1024MB vswap

80GB storage

800GB/month data transfer

OpenVZ/SolusVM

Sign up page. Payment in PayPal, Google Checkout, Moneybookers and AlertPay. On the WHT offer page it states that the service is available in either France with OVH (test IP: 87.98.184.76) or Germany with Hetzner (test IP: 176.9.37.252). However on the sign up page, Scranton in US is also an option. ~USD$4/month for a 1024MB OpenVZ node — that’s indeed quite cheap.

What interested me more, however, is their current special offers. €5/year (~USD$6.70) for a 128MB OpenVZ VPS?! By the time you click through the ordering link it actually shows up as €10/year (~USD$13.40) for 128MB memory, 128MB vswap, 10GB storage and 100GB/month data — which although is still cheap, it’s just comparable with yearly offers from other providers. 96MB got their reviews here, and from their previous offer here, people are sceptical but quite a few people are happy with the performance and service.

We’ll see how things turn out.

They accept either PayPal or AlertPay. Nice price for a low end Xen VPS. Servers with OVH in Paris, France. I guess you can use their website’s IP address (46.105.120.170) to do traceroute testing. Xen PV by default but you can also request a Xen HVM node. Nice looking jQuery-based website that still seems to have a few issues (clicking on VPS Starter Plan comes up with VPS Basic Plan, for example). AUP is also no where to be found.

Update: Due to Xen routing issue, UptimeVPS has moved to OpenVZ VPS with the following spec at no extra cost (see Ken’s comment here).

384MB guaranteed/768MB burstable memory

30GB storage

300GB/month data transfer

Ordering link here. This Xen issue would have raised some doubt on the technical competency of this provider…

Updated November 2011: j-solutions.org stopped resolving after 18 October. Judging from the comments in this thread, the outcome is actually not surprising…

This was sent to me from Jonne of J-Solutions. A newly launched hosting company by a “student from Finland” (on their About page), they are “very young, but very powerful”. Moreover, 35% off recurring discount launch special with promo code 35LAUNCH. Their “Pronze Plan” (probably a Finnish version of Bronze) would be €3.24/month after the discount. Here is what you will get

256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory

80GB storage

100Mbps unmetered bandwidth

OpenVZ/SolusVM

Payment is PayPal only. You can use their website for ping test. Servers with Kimsufi in Strasbourg, France. Yes another .ORG domain used for business. No SSL on WHMCS. Failed WHMCS domain verification. No ToS. Same IP address for both name servers. And the Jonne looks way too young (<del>on his Facebook profile</del>) to be running a business seriously — but good effort nevertheless.

Pretty big drive with unmetered bandwidth though. I wonder what kind of clients will they attract…

Update: Yes this post was removed previous on J-Solutions’ request, as he claimed that the linked Facebook profile was someone else. I wonder how that “someone else” also happened to have the same email as the registrant of his domain. Anyway, I am putting the post back now as quite a few people have wondered what happened.

Manuel from domVPS emailed me their new LowEndBox promo code and some updates. They’ve got a new website, and are offering a better deal than last time. Promo code LEB15 gives you 15% off recurring discount on their VPS plans. “domBASIC 256″ is now £3.83/month (~USD$6.23) after the discount. Here is the direct sign up link, which goes to their WHMCS at No1Servers.com.

256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory

40GB storage

250GB/month data transfer at 50Mbps

1x IPv4 + 10x IPv6

OpenVZ/SolusVM

Only PayPal is offered. Servers in France with OVH. Some very vague ToS & SLA. Ran by 16 year old Cameron in UK, i.e. don’t expect dealing with a registered business entity here. No1Servers (the parent hosting site) is also heavily focused on SA-MP hosting, i.e. the gamer kind.

In my last domVPS post, both “Sam” and “Christopher” have also defended Cameron’s age by saying we should not judge someone’s ability by how young they are. True. I guess I just want to say — when I am picking a hosting company, owner’s technical ability is only a small part of equation. Mental maturity? Registered company that’s hopefully insured for public/product liability? Aiming for longevity of the business rather than quick growth and quick sales?

Although I’m not saying the non-teens are better. Heaps of grown-up scammers leaving their sinking boats in the dead pool here…

Here is the sign up link that brings you right into WHMCS ordering page. For $6/month you get

10Mbps unmetered bandwidth, or 1TB/month data transfer at 100Mbps

IPv6 available on request

KVM/SolusVM

Servers with OVH in France. Payment available in PayPal or AlertPay. ToS here seems to be for the general shared hosting customers (“CGI Abuse Policy”) and can be restrictive in what you wish to host on your VPS (“… Are defamatory, slanderous or trade libelous”). Domain has been registered since September last year by Bradley as “UK Individual”. Somehow Bradley signed his email as “CEO” so I might be confused about the size of this operation.

No info on either domVPS or No1Servers on WHT — which can be a worry to me. Facebook entry for Cameron also brings up a picture of a young kid (what’s with young-male-teens-in-UK and VPS hosting?!!!). Hmmm.
