Servers are with BurstNet in Scranton, and Matthew has just reported that they have almost got IPv6 working. If you do a search of “LoveVPS” on WHT you’ll see how it has changed hands over the last couple of months (start reading from this old comment on the BitEntity post), but the new owner, UK based Matthew assures us that “LoveVPS.com / LoveVPS.co.uk will not die an early death and that LoveVPS and your servers are in safe hands with me”. It also claims “Zero Overselling” on its website as it’s “unethical”. No customer testimony yet on the website, probably because it has only started in January. Matthew however has previously operated TigerTB.com (and subsequently sold to Zooko.co.uk). Usual FAIL with running both NS on the same IP.

Yes you will get vSphere access to set up your VPS. Probably a bit overwhelm than clicking a few buttons to have VPS deployed on SolusVM, but it does give you a lot of configuration options. eNS Cloud has also released their new DNS management application for their customers.

I think eNS Cloud has suffered from fraud orders in the past so there might be issues if you are ordering from “black listed” regions (by Maxmind I guess). Server provisioning is also relatively slow due to the platform. Brandon also noted that this offer does not apply to Windows orders, and all Windows requests will be refunded. You might still be able to run xBSD or Solaris though.

No burstable memory is mentioned so I presume there is none — 256MB is all you are going to get. Servers in Tustin CA according to their network page, although their website traced to ServInt’s California DC. Domain has only been registered 4 months ago, and both name servers are pointing to the same server. 3 people team without anyone on technical role (okay I see, it’s just listing the management team). Orien has been around hosting scene for a short while though, and is currently a community guide liaison at WHT.

There has been quite a bit of discussion from their previous German offer post regarding IPv6, which is only available on more expensive packages (not on $15/year 128MB VPS). NordicVPS is Denmark based provider. You can check their previous offers here and evaluate. Mixed comments although the support has been slow recently.

Servers are with HostDime in Orlando FL. Elite Fiber is an LLC in Houston, Texas, and the domain has been around for 2 years. Dmitry has also worked as sysadmin for HostGator and then now-defunc Alpha Red Inc. However all the NS of HydraVPS, Elite Fiber, AcroNOC and his personal blog — all pointing to the same IP address at DimeHost. Talking about redundancy…

Also check the TOS/AUP especially on the VPS-related sections. For example you cannot hog 25% of CPU or IO for more than 90 seconds. Cannot run IRC client/server. No bittorrent or P2P.

The sign up link should bring you to a page to fill out just the hostname + root password (not sure why so many providers still requiring filling out a domain name and ns1 + ns2 for a VPS order). OS choices include Debian 5, Ubuntu 8.04, Ubuntu 10.04, CentOS 5, and — get this — LowEndBox light weight WordPress install on Debian Lenny! Just deploy and you get a WordPress blog ready to go, optimized for low end box! Not mention that 512MB of memory is nowhere near “small”.

AllSimple.net has their servers with BlueSquare in UK. Test IP + download files available from previous post. They have now been around for a year now.

Servers with in Netherlands with Nedzone. You can use their website to test out ping and traceroute. Two strange things about this plan. First of all, 20GB/month data sounds ridiculously low — you can exhaust it within 27 minutes on its 100Mbps (assuming sustained rate). It’s probably only good for non-data intensive applications such as DNS.

Secondly there is no sign up link — you have to email mail@1ago.be and mention “1AS-LEB128″ offer. The extra step might put people off (including the potential fraudsters I guess). It does have full contact details online though and it looks like a legitimate company.

ClubUptime had a great sale last time with 50% off recurring discount. Matt said they are going to offer something again over the last week of December, and I guess here it is. This makes BurstNet’s OpenVZ/vePortal product available in either Los Angeles CA, Scranton PA or UK. It’s not the first 512MB VPS under $5/month. However what makes BurstNet different is probably its size, and how many other so-called “VPS providers” are actually just resellers of BurstNet’s products (or using their infrastructure). 177ms to LA from here in Taiwan (comparing to 247ms to Scranton) so it’s sweet for the Asian users.

This seems to be quite an expensive offer with so few resources comparing to what we had posted in the last few months. Or HostRail’s deal — cheapness seems to be about the only sure way to generate much interest here and these days $7 for a 128MB VPS is no longer considered cheap. It is still low end nevertheless. And it might actually have a better service as the pricing is actually profitable to the owners (but again, this cannot be verified as you can still be an expensive overseller with no service).

Anyway. 128MB and 50GB/month — probably only good enough to run a mostly-text blog site like this one.
