Servers are with BurstNet in Scranton, and Matthew has just reported that they have almost got IPv6 working. If you do a search of “LoveVPS” on WHT you’ll see how it has changed hands over the last couple of months (start reading from this old comment on the BitEntity post), but the new owner, UK based Matthew assures us that “LoveVPS.com / LoveVPS.co.uk will not die an early death and that LoveVPS and your servers are in safe hands with me”. It also claims “Zero Overselling” on its website as it’s “unethical”. No customer testimony yet on the website, probably because it has only started in January. Matthew however has previously operated TigerTB.com (and subsequently sold to Zooko.co.uk). Usual FAIL with running both NS on the same IP.

Updated December 2011 — Both eNetSouth.com and eNSCloud.com stopped resolving since 11 November 2011. It has been confirmed that Brandon has done a runner.

Brandon from eNetSouth Cloud emailed me that they have more slots available on their VMWare-based VPS in Chicago. Same exclusive offer for LowEndBox readers like last time, but not available in San Jose at the moment. $6.95/month using this ordering link.

400MB memory

20GB storage

2000GB/month data transfer

VMWare/vSphere

Yes you will get vSphere access to set up your VPS. Probably a bit overwhelm than clicking a few buttons to have VPS deployed on SolusVM, but it does give you a lot of configuration options. eNS Cloud has also released their new DNS management application for their customers.

I think eNS Cloud has suffered from fraud orders in the past so there might be issues if you are ordering from “black listed” regions (by Maxmind I guess). Server provisioning is also relatively slow due to the platform. Brandon also noted that this offer does not apply to Windows orders, and all Windows requests will be refunded. You might still be able to run xBSD or Solaris though.

(Disclaimer: LowEndTalk.com runs on a sponsored VMWare VPS from eNS Cloud)

Servers are in Frankfurt in Germany. rDNS is available via support ticket, and you can pay up to a year (no further discount though). There has been quite a bit of discussion from their previous German offer post regarding IPv6, which is only available on more expensive packages (not on $15/year 128MB VPS). NordicVPS is Denmark based provider. You can check their previous offers here and evaluate. Mixed comments although the support has been slow recently.

This is “1AS-LEB128″ package at €3/month with the following spec:

20GB/month data transfer on 100Mbps

1x IPv4 + 1x IPv6

Xen (Citrix XenServer)

Servers with in Netherlands with Nedzone. You can use their website to test out ping and traceroute. Two strange things about this plan. First of all, 20GB/month data sounds ridiculously low — you can exhaust it within 27 minutes on its 100Mbps (assuming sustained rate). It’s probably only good for non-data intensive applications such as DNS.

Secondly there is no sign up link — you have to email mail@1ago.be and mention “1AS-LEB128″ offer. The extra step might put people off (including the potential fraudsters I guess). It does have full contact details online though and it looks like a legitimate company.

They have recently got into the world of VPS hosting, and would love some cheap VPS die-hards to “test the water” :) Use promo code LOWENDBOXDECEMBER to get 20% off recurring discount on their VPS products — a well informed page by the way, which gives you a test IP (109.169.46.15) and download files, tells you that they are hosted with RapidSwitch in Maidenhead UK, Dell R410-based hardware boxes with RAID1 drives, etc. Package plan “Bronze” would be £3.92/month (ex VAT, ~USD$6.05) after the discount.

512MB guaranteed/1024MB burstable memory

20GB storage

1000GB/month data transfer on 100Mbps

OpenVZ/SolusVM

It’s cheaper than similar plan from Thrust::VPS which is owned by the same company that also owns RapidSwitch. BHost has been around since 2002, registered as a UK limited company (4483115, as shown on their contact page) so it seems to be pretty safe.

Updated August 2011 — ClubUptime is officially in the dead pool. IP has not been resolving since 3 August. Please see discussion thread at LowEndTalk.

ClubUptime had a great sale last time with 50% off recurring discount. Matt said they are going to offer something again over the last week of December, and I guess here it is. Matt has given LowEndBox readers some special packages — $5.95/month with double the disk space and monthly data transfer than the standard Level 1 package.

512MB guaranteed/1024MB burstable memory

20GB storage

200GB/month data transfer

OpenVZ/SolusVM

You can order this package for Seattle WA or Dallas TX. It’s not as cheap as last time, but you do get more disk space/data transfer.

But wait! Right on their home page (which is nicely designed by the way), they are giving out 25% off recurring discount on OpenVZ packages using coupon code 25offwinter. This coupon code does not work with “LowEndBox special packages”, but does reduce the standard Level 1 (with 10GB storage and 100GB/month data) to $4.46/month. Might not as cheap as last time — but still great value for a 512MB OpenVZ box.

Hey guys! I am still alive and I am supposed to be on holidays still. Trip over here (Taiwan) has been pretty much endless eating, and I guess I might need to put in more effort in trimming the waistline fat rather than trimming the memory-bloated VPS after I get back. Due to the accommodation arrangement the hotels that I’ve stayed over the past week actually don’t have broadband connection to the room, and free wifi has been scarce. Anyway, I did manage to get some connectivity to approve comments and post this update.

And kudos to the president and CEO of BurstNet who sent me an exclusive offer a few days ago, regarding to their expansion to Los Angeles. Use promo code LOWENDLAVPS to get 25% off recurring discount (expiry 31st of December 2010), which brings their Unmanaged Linux VPS #1 down to $4.46/month. Here is the link:

512MB memory

20GB storage

1000GB/month data transfer

2 IP addresses

OpenVZ/vePortal

This makes BurstNet’s OpenVZ/vePortal product available in either Los Angeles CA, Scranton PA or UK. It’s not the first 512MB VPS under $5/month. However what makes BurstNet different is probably its size, and how many other so-called “VPS providers” are actually just resellers of BurstNet’s products (or using their infrastructure). 177ms to LA from here in Taiwan (comparing to 247ms to Scranton) so it’s sweet for the Asian users.

That’s it for the update. I’ve got a few other offers emailed to me last week although nothing extraordinary — will get them posted after I get back.

Okay. Let’s take a step back from the race to the bottom and look at this low end but that that cheap VPS package from The Simple Host. Nathan wrote to me to give LowEndBox readers some exclusive discount — using promo code LEB-V1-IX28H0 to get 40% off recurring discount on their VPS1 OpenVZ package. So the cost at the end is £4.20/month (USD$6.60/month) for the following package:

128MB guaranteed/256MB burstable memory

5GB storage

50GB/month data transfer

OpenVZ/SolusVM

Servers will be with datasock in France, rather than in Germany like their previous offer (as per their announcement here). UK based operation since June 2008.

This seems to be quite an expensive offer with so few resources comparing to what we had posted in the last few months. Or HostRail’s deal — cheapness seems to be about the only sure way to generate much interest here and these days $7 for a 128MB VPS is no longer considered cheap. It is still low end nevertheless. And it might actually have a better service as the pricing is actually profitable to the owners (but again, this cannot be verified as you can still be an expensive overseller with no service).

Anyway. 128MB and 50GB/month — probably only good enough to run a mostly-text blog site like this one.
