Those are OpenVZ/SolusVM plans. You’ll find that $7 for “Professional” has actually the most expensive “offer” from ChicagoVPS since May (their list of previous offers here). I guess the problem with random discount is that those who are cheap and have time would actually wait until a better promotion is available — a possible lost of potential customer there.

You should also be able to see various benchmark posted by their clients in the previous posts. A mixed result really, but on the reflection of Chris’ comment here, at least they have tried hard to keep their VPS stable. According to my tracking, ChicagoVPS.net’s home page is definitely one of the more stable ones out there (only a brief outage in September in 12 months).

Since there’s no burstable memory here, it probably won’t be as useful as other yearly 128MB plans from other providers. You can use either PayPal or Google Checkout. Currently there are two data centers available for the VPS1 plan — QuadraNet in Los Angeles CA with (2) availability, and Continuum in Chicago with (30). YDGH has moved out from Dallas back in July/August. “LEB30″ can also be used on VPS2 which gives you 341MB/512MB memory, 20GB storage and 1000GB/month data for $40.60/year.
