It appears that they have been sold, and was having some transitional issues. Earlier this month Nancy, the new 5ITE account manager who also represents Swift Communications (new owner of 5ITE), contacted me regarding to their new LowEndBox offer. So here it is — use coupon code LEB2012 to get 25% off recurring discount on all their VPS plans. “VZ-1″ would be $5.96/month after the discount. Sign up link here.

Servers in either Nuremberg Germany or Chicago IL. This is actually worse when you compare it with previous offer given by Andrew, although the ordering link still works on that. They are now a part of a bigger company also means that you might be able to get phone support, and VPS might actually moved to migrated to their own facility in the future. Well, recent review wasn’t so positive. Maybe it’s just the migration pain, but hopefully things will become more stable.

Update November offer from ChicagoVPS.

Those are OpenVZ/SolusVM plans. You’ll find that $7 for “Professional” has actually the most expensive “offer” from ChicagoVPS since May (their list of previous offers here). I guess the problem with random discount is that those who are cheap and have time would actually wait until a better promotion is available — a possible lost of potential customer there.

You should also be able to see various benchmark posted by their clients in the previous posts. A mixed result really, but on the reflection of Chris’ comment here, at least they have tried hard to keep their VPS stable. According to my tracking, ChicagoVPS.net’s home page is definitely one of the more stable ones out there (only a brief outage in September in 12 months).

Their servers are with ColoCrossing in Chicago.

WORLD-HOST.ORG is owned by Kristian R. who is linked with proxy and file uploading sites… Whether they are related — I have no idea, but hey, that’s what WHOIS tells me assuming people are filling them correctly.

Alex from KWD Services has sent me a note about their new KVM/Ganeti based virtual servers. Yes that portal page might rival TinyVZ and Prgmr.com in terms of “simplicity”, but Ganeti, “cluster virtual server management software tool built on top of existing virtualization technologies such as Xen or KVM”, is actually quite nice looking (check the tutorial here). You can order with this link here, and I think you do have to order at least one unit of all 3 components to get a working VPS. The component pricings are:

$2.56/month/256MB of memory

$1.50/month/10GB storage

$1.00/month/IPv4 address

Combining with 100Mbps unmetered bandwidth, minimum spending is $5.06/month and you get

256MB memory

10GB storage

100Mbps unmetered bandwidth

KVM/Ganeti

You can pay by credit card, PayPal or check/money order. Use coupon code halloweenbeta to get 50% off the first month. Servers in Chicago IL with Steadfast Network. They actually leased the servers from FutureHosting (test IP: 199.48.254.140). Currently in beta looking for a few brave souls :)

KWD Services was founded in 2004 in Virginia, and currently provides a wide range of services — from web hosting to IT solutions to Internet radio to disc jockey (!!) — probably not all at the same time. They are also the one who provided the SheevaPlug services we featured last year.

Use promo code LEB30 to get 30% off recurring discount on their OpenVZ VPS plans, when you select annual payment.
10GB storage

500GB/month data transfer on 100Mbps

OpenVZ/SolusVM

Since there’s no burstable memory here, it probably won’t be as useful as other yearly 128MB plans from other providers. You can use either PayPal or Google Checkout. Currently there are two data centers available for the VPS1 plan — QuadraNet in Los Angeles CA with (2) availability, and Continuum in Chicago with (30). YDGH has moved out from Dallas back in July/August. “LEB30″ can also be used on VPS2 which gives you 341MB/512MB memory, 20GB storage and 1000GB/month data for $40.60/year. If annual payment is not your thing, there’s also LEB10 that gives you 10% off on monthly plans.

YouDomainGoesHere have been around since early 2008, and has been on LowEndBox since mid-last year.

Payment in credit card or PayPal. They have recently updated their offers (even the BudgetVM ads showing here are of the wrong pricing), and standardize their servers. Those are dual Opteron 2356 nodes with 32GB RAM and 4x WD RE4 drives in RAID10. On the ordering page you can also choose between 4 different data centers — Chicago IL with Continuum (test IP: 64.79.104.200), Dallas TX with CoreXchange (test IP: 108.60.198.121), Los Angeles CA with HE.net (test IP: 184.105.219.240) and Romania (test IP: 188.215.83.87).

BudgetVM is part of Enzu brand, who sells SAN-backed Xen VPS. Nick seems to be a veteran in VPS hosting by reading some of his older posts on WHT (and how many companies he worked/advertised for). He also founded Virpus with Kenneth according to Virpus’ about page. At least he knows what he is doing :)

PayPal is the only supported payment method. Servers with SingleHop in Chicago IL (test IP: 69.175.119.19). TildeHost is part of CodeHill LLC, a US-based IT-solution company that has its registered address in Delaware (like most US coporation?) Or maybe they are based in Abu Dhabi, which rwhois of the test IP also confirms. I can’t seem to be able to find TildeHost mentioned much on the net though, nor have them tried to advertise on WHT. Domain has been registered since April 2010, but little evidence that it has been selling VPS until recently. Count that as a new provider run by experienced developers.

AUP here which is nicely laid out. Basically no illegal stuff no spamming, etc and no mention of IRC or proxy/VPN service.

Servers with ColoCrossing in Chicago. IPv6 is still “coming soon”, and there is no burstable memory with their OpenVZ plans. Much has already been said from their previous offers. They do have some solid hardware and support, although performance can be hit and miss sometimes (kind of things you expect from probably highly over-subscribed OpenVZ plans). Check them out if you are looking for cheap VPS with lots of memory near US East Coast.

Payment in either PayPal, Google Checkout or AlertPay. Coupon code lowendbox80 gives 80% off first month so the first invoice would be $1.20. Servers hosted with SingleHop in Chicago. The “Quad Core” here are Xeon E5520 which is not too bad, although I am not sure how many other guests are you sharing with. When you compare it with their previous offer ($4.95/month 512MB OpenVZ VPS, which is still available), it does not seem to be that great, unless you do get some CPU grunt.

Domain was registered in November 2008, and they still have DNS problem with non-redundant NS. ToS here for those who are looking for it.
