Up2VPS – $5.99 128MB OpenVZ VPS

up2vps Via this WHT offer. up2vps is yet another new’ish budget low end virtual server provider. It’s Linux6 plan, listed on their VPS hosting page, is a low end VPS plan that costs $5.99/month. You get

  • 128MB memory
  • 6GB storage
  • 300GB/month data transfer
  • CentOS, Fedora Core, Debian, Ubuntu
  • OpenVZ/HyperVM

Just noted that on their WHT listing, it says “HypeVM” so it might be using some new VM control panel that’s powered by hype :) Domain registered 2 weeks ago so buyers beware. 99.999% guaranteed uptime with SLA, which should again ring your alarm bell. Less than 6 minutes of downtime guaranteed with an SLA for less than $6/month? Fat chance… (but I hope I am wrong here)

Servers in Los Angeles.

Just wondering, http://wiki.lowendbox.com/listing-criteria says domain must be registered for at least a year to be listed, has this changed?

Avoid these guys at all cost. Their service is crap: I experienced several outages with them over a 2 week period, for more than 10 hours of downtime. They do not stand by the 99.9% uptime SLA guarantee that they falsely claim on their website. They care more about getting and keeping your money than taking care of their customers.

Some notes on commenting on LowEndBox:

  • Do not use LowEndBox for support issues. Go to your hosting provider and issue a ticket there. Coming here saying "my VPS is down, what do I do?!" will only have your comments removed.
  • Akismet is used for spam detection. Quoting webhostingtalk.com URL seems to get binned consistently here, but I do peek into the spam box frequently to publish those comments.
