UGVPS – $2.50/Month 256MB & 2048MB $6.99 OpenVZ VPS in 4 Locations

Tags: , , , , , Date/Time: February 2, 2013 @ 10:49 pm, by Zahra

UGVPS contacted us a few weeks ago with the same four offers we featured in December. The only differences that I can see, from their last post, is that diskspace has been increased and they no longer offer servers in Newcastle, UK but Coventry, UK.

LEB 256 13′

  • 256MB RAM
  • 512MB Burst RAM
  • 30GB DiskSpace
  • 500GB Bandwidth
  • 4 CPU Cores
  • 1 IPv4 Address
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM
  • $2.50/Month - Order Link

LEB 2048 13′

  • 2048MB RAM
  • 2560MB Burst RAM
  • 70GB DiskSpace
  • 1000GB Bandwidth
  • 4 CPU Cores
  • 1 IPv4 Address
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM
  • $6.99/Month - Order Link
  • Location: Coventry, Chicago, Lenoir, Los Angeles

UGVPS have been featured twice before on LowEndBox with their last offer being posted in December 2012. Reviews by customers were mixed, with a few customers reporting sluggish behaviour – however it appears to have been ironed out. Crystal has sent us a few non-recurring coupons that you can use when purchasing. The first 15 customers to use the code Q73LSYB8QM will receive 10% off for 3 months, the first 30 Customers using the coupon ROEQA713E will receive 10% off for 2 months and the first 60 Customers to use the coupon code KQNROJB193 will get 10% off for the first month. Click ‘More’ to see two more offers.

It also appears UGVPS are looking into expanding to provide KVM services in the near future. With so much ram on offer with these OpenVZ plans, It’ll be interesting to see what you’ll be able to get for $7 on KVM. UGVPS offer a 5 day return policy and PayPal is still the only accepted method of payment. For more information, you may want to check out their full Terms of Service.

    • Jay,

I would make sure that the server in Maidenhead you were downloading from is not suffering any type of network issues or bandwidth saturation. Because there is plenty of bandwidth available on our UK servers, Jack was able to achieve close to 30 MB/s on his download and his node he is testing from is in Maidenhead as well i believe.

      Thanks!!

    • Because of the high request/demand for yearly billing options i added this for you. By having a billing cycle greater than 1 month, you will receive the following recurring discounts as follows.

      Monthly – Standard Pricing
      Quarterly / 3 Months – 5% Discount
      Semi-Annual / 6 Months – 10% Discount
      Annually / Yearly – 15% Discount
      Biennially / 2 Years – 20% Discount

The respective discounts have been calculated accordingly in the price. You may select the desired billing cycle during the ordering process. Existing clients may also make a ticket if they want to prepay for their service and receive the above discounts.

If anyone has any questions please let me know!

      Thanks,

      Crystal

I like their servers. But, we have had major downtime the past month and it seems to only be getting worse. There is no chat option even though their website has a button for it. I’m concerned about the network stability and lack of support.

I hope they get this networking issue and lack of support options under wraps soon. I’d like to buy a VPS at all of their locations if those two issues are taken care of for certain.

And, Crystal is great with her support responses. I just wanted to clarify that I think there needs to be more roads of contact especially for instances of downtime. It’s nerve racking to not be able to contact via chat or phone directly.

      February 5, 2013 @ 2:39 pm | Reply
    • Thanks for the feedback Derek. The network issue today was on one of our Chicago nodes and definitely isn’t the norm, it was an issue with the datacenter as another server in the same cab was getting DDoSed. They have filtered the attack and I see no packet loss now.

As for the network, we never had any major problems with any of our US locations network, it has been really solid from day 1. Ever since we migrated our UK services from Newcastle to Coventry, both the nodes and network has been very stable and i have only heard great comments from customers.

Regarding chat support, I do my best to idle on #ugvps on FreeNode but the fastest way to get ahold of me for support matters would be by making a quick support ticket :)

The LEB 512 13′ is now available in only Los Angeles and Coventry. Any ETA for re-availability in Chicago and Lenoir (North Carolina)?

Also, I noticed the terms of service says “Any account deactivated due to non-payment will require a reactivation fee of $20.00 prior to reactivation.”

Does this mean that, if I have a server on pre-paid billing, and it gets shut down because I haven’t paid an outstanding invoice by the typical one or two days after the due date, that there will be a $20 charge to re-start the server once the invoice is paid?

    Thanks.

I am not sure if the VPS services that I purchased are too cheap. I have quite some down time. I can lose SSH connections several times a day. There can be periods that the server cannot be connected.

It’s cheap, so for me, slowness is acceptable, unavailability is quite another thing.

Still, support response time is not satisfactory.

    • Afante,

I will admit this week has been extremely crazy with things happening all over the place. I had to deal with constant issues with one of our Coventry nodes since the beginning of this week. This morning, after hours of working with the DC, we discovered that 2 drives in the RAID10 array were failing which was the cause of the constant forced FSCK checks the server was requiring. I don’t want to speak too soon, but I think that we finally found the resolution here and put an end to all of the issues we’ve experienced because the server has been stable for 13+ hours since we replaced the drives this morning.

I’ll continue to keep an eye on it :) Ticket response times will also start getting better starting today. Believe me the ticket response times was never like this before and this was only temporary, it’s just been crazy with all that has been going on with this UK node, along with my daughter being sick. Support response times will go back to normal starting now.

      Thanks,

      Crystal
