Spacerich – $6.99 512MB OpenVZ VPS in US or Germany

Tags: , , , Date/Time: February 24, 2010 @ 12:09 pm

Spacerich Via this WHT offer. Spacerich has some cheap OpenVZ packages available in either Chicago IL, US or Munich, Germany. For $6.99/month you get:

  • 512MB guaranteed/768MB burstable memory
  • 50GB storage
  • 250GB/month data transfer for US, or 10Mbps unmetered for Germany
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Looks like a company that has been around for a while (since 2005). The German package looks like a great deal with 10Mbps shared bandwidth, although you can’t really find out what’s the contention ratio. If 512MB is not low end enough for you, there’s also a $3.99/month option with 256MB guaranteed/384MB burstable memory and 25GB storage.

I know that’s not very fast but good enough for the price.
And I guess they work accd to European time. And not EST.

I have to disagree here, some lowend providers have better support then high-profile companies. Ie, my last provider – I bought a VPS with NO support, and my questions and askings for help always got resolved within hours. Later they started providing support, and got even better. Now, the only problem is that they stopped offering VPS services :(

I tried this provider for a short time, but overall was unhappy with the service. My VPS was rebooted (without warning) quite often, sometimes several times a day. They also suspended my account a week before my next invoice was due, without even an email to let me know.

Just information like “not happy” (in username) won’t help. We suspended 2 more account in begining of this month which were involved in DDOS attacks. Are you one amongst?
Else, we never suspend accounts without reason unless it’s a serious offense.

The point of my comment was to let others know that they may encounter unexpected reboots AND/OR suspension of service with Spacerich, as that is exactly what happened to me.

I remain anonymous because I have seen how you treat other users on WHT when you don’t agree with what they have to say. Anyone who doesn’t believe me can simply Google for ‘spacerich review’ and xplithosting to read all about it.

Not all users are liars or script kiddies trying to use your services for DDOS attacks. Try giving the customer the benefit of the doubt for a change.

Yes, I accept. We had bad customers, bad reviews. But who doesn’t in this industry. We can satisfy over 95% of our clientele and we’re happy with that.

I don’t wanna say anything about your service or about good/bad reviews, just about this opinion.

You can satisfy 95% of the clients. That means that the rest are “bad customers” or just not your match. Now, when somebody is not your match, it’s…lets’ say ok.

But when you say you’re happy with it, it tells me you won’t take any precautions or exploration or try to improve your service so “script kiddies” don’t make troubles for the whole provider.

Maybe it’s not so, but it is just the way I saw your comment. Not the line that’d attract me to use your servers.

My feedback is legitimate. I saw the negative reviews before I signed up with Spacerich, but I decided to give them a chance based on the prices alone. In hindsight, it was a mistake and resulted in wasted time and effort on my part. Now that I am attempting to share my personal experience, I am being labelled as a ‘bad customer’ or it is assumed that I must have been involved in DDOS attacks. Maybe they suspended my service by mistake – I don’t really care either way. The argumentative attitude attached to most of the Spacerich posts always did rub me the wrong way anyway.

Other Spacerich users, maybe even 95% of them, may be very happy with the service. That’s great – I am happy for them.

I have since moved to a competitively priced Xen-based provider and I am very happy with my new VPS. :)

    The end.

I have to admit that I would not deal with any service that suspends without notice. If you;re taking the time to stop a VPS, drop a note to inform the client. For all we would know, the client is not closely monitoring. No problem with suspending but follow up on the concern. I would think it would be a customer service issue.

And I for one would like to see poor feedback reports here although more proof would be a plus. If they’re not allowed, all you’re going to get back is positive ones or those faked by the provider. (Heck, I’d like to see more proof period.)
