Deasoft Via this WHT offer. Deasoft, an Australia based hosting provider with many years of experience, is having a promotion right now with lifetime 25% off any VPS plans, which starts at $8/month for their US based VPS plans. With promo code “nov25off“, the VPS1 package is now just $6/month and it comes with:

  • 384MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory
  • 50GB storage
  • 250GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ

Servers are in Pennsylvania which I guess would be BurstNet. Also note that the price actually fluctuates as it’s converted from AUD.

Hopefully then the future exchange rate will make the USD less :p

I’ve taken advantage of their offer and signed up. On signup it cost me $6.71 AUD ($5.96 USD), however my order is still waiting for approval, so I’m wondering if they do a manual check and then auto-build the VPS or if they do the build by hand as well.

One thing that irks me is that they don’t specify multiple distros for each flavour. It’s just “Ubuntu” or “Fedora”, etc. If they’re only offering Ubuntu 8.10, I’ll be mildly annoyed – every other host I’ve seen offers several versions of each flavour, and 8.10 isn’t an LTS edition :/

VPS was built about an hour ago. Seems the slow-down was accounts verifying my payment. They installed Ubuntu 9.04 :/
